Cincinnati

Well I came down to Cincinnati for the weekend to meet with my parents, I got there in mostly one piece but heading into Cincinnati the Greyhound bus hit apparently hit a large dog (people who say it said it looked like a Great Dane). The driver was saying his mandatory speech approaching X speech when *BUMB! - BUMP* along with the bus swerving about until the driver pulled off to the side of the highway. The driver then explained that we had hit a dog and that he needed a few moments to pull himself together (and that he loved dog and was going to see if there was anything he could do for it).

Didn't do much else except doing a marathon of Haunted Junction (Opening) to get a little more source material for connecting my panel about Religion in Japan to examples in Anime. Haunted Junction was overall a pretty decent comedy following a Buddhist, Shinto, and a Christian student who dealt with keeping the peace with all ghosts and spirits who inhabited the school. One character Hanako-san is based on an urban legend about a spirit which inhabits school toilet... I kinda wonder about that - Particularly, I'm wondering if there is any connection between the Hanako-san school legend and China's "Purple Maiden" (though this and most of the series has little to do with my panel at all).

Also did a marathon of Moyer's/Cambell's Power of Myth because I had only ever seen parts before... Six hours of wandering conversation on random topics in mythology while interesting can get a bit tedious by the fourth hour...

also in the News: First Mormon Freemason Grand Master in more than a Century.

wtf, religion, links, taoism, shinto, random
