Today was the first day I had to ride my bike to work, so I got up super early, ate breakfast, made coffee, fed the cat(s) and left my house at 8am. (I can get to work at any time between 8 and 10am so I felt as if that was perfect: no matter how long it took me, I'd be some degree of on time.) Well.. it took me about 20 min. (I still haven't gotten used to how fast riding a bike is in this city!! Blast!) But I got down to the workshop only to discover that I was, in fact, the first person there. Hmm... I don't have a key yet, seeing as it's my, what... 2nd week working here? So I wandered out on foot in search of more coffee. Walked to the dunkin donuts, aquired coffee and ginger-ale for lunch, and meandered back to the studio. Still no one there. I set up camp and read my book for about 20 min when my boss stumbles out of the elevator lugging a ton of joanne's bags and looking quite harangued. Instead of coming into work however, she unlocked the door to the studio, asked me to have my manager call when she gets in, and disappeared back into the elevator. Well, at least I can get to work now, thought I, as I brought in the bags full of cloth, thread and sewing notions. But, alas! As I approached my sewing machine, I found a note on it to the affect that one of the pre-prep girls had used it late friday afternoon and, for some inexplicable reason, the needle wasn't picking up the bobbin thread! And after a total cleaning, rethreading and taking everything I felt comfortable taking apart apart and putting it back together again, I am STILL the only person here and my machine still won't work. Blast, thwarted and damn damn double damn!
So now the real question: do I write on my time sheet that I got here at 8:30, 9:00, or whenever my machine gets fixed?
Dumdeedumdum... So.... yeah.. what's up with you?
