Premiere Show 2005.

Sep 04, 2005 23:56

The Premiere Show is held at the O.C Convention Center in Orlando once a year, for industry professionals (cosmetologists, nail techs, aestheticians...) and the place was packed this time around. We could barely walk the first day! You're wondering "what's the appeal?" and it is...this!

There are more topless boys behind the cut, but none quite so...er...um...manly...as this one. >.> Also mothers for sale, flaming (literally) hair, and guys.

One of many entrances to the convention, decorated for the show.

As soon as we walked in, unable to hear one another talk over the loud music, (It's like a night club, but sans the "night" part :x) we caught a runway show by MOP that make some spiffy organic hair products.

There are tons of companies putting on shows there, but Retro's had to be the best. >} This show was so gay, from the boys tearing off their tank tops to holding hands as they walked off stage. Gaytastic! Don't ask me what this has to do with shampoo and hair gel...

The con was divided into sections, hair, skin, nails, etc. Self tanning got a HUGE area this year, as it is getting more popular, and so my cousin (pictured below :D) got a sample of the goods.

I got my face airbrushed as well, but due to the fact that I was wearing a bright pink shirt, I looked orange. :x I refused photo ops.

This young man and I fell madly in lust while my cousin was getting her face bronzed. We got along swimmingly as he flashed me his goods "accidentally" while showing me his tan line. :| We hugged goodbye, and I was destined never to see him again! *angst*

While my lovely companion got a mini-makeover, I was entranced by the signs behind her. The con was selling quality mothers for only $99! What a bargain!

We eventually moved on from the bronzed bodies and make-up, where I met this young man in the black suit. Little did I know, he was a hair model for Redken this year. And here I thought he just looked charming in that black suit for no reason... Really nice guy and his dorky friend. XD We talked for awhile and complained to one another about the bottles of water selling for, at the cheapest, $2.75.

Just as we left the boys however, a man with multi-colored hair from Sexy Hair Concepts snagged me and asked if I'd be willing to cut my hair for their show. I said yes, somewhat reluctantly, and my cousin and I were recruited as hair models for the show.

My cousin was stone-faced and all nerves when she got up in the chair, due to the fact that there are no mirrors, and you have no idea what the stylist will come up with.

A crowd gathered to watch. That boy in the middle, striking a pose in the khaki colors, was waiting to watch his boyfriend cut for the show. How sweet!

Reyes, the stylist here, worked furiously on her hair.

And finally, the finished cut! She looked amazing and everyone came by to touch and see her hair.

Reyes was SO proud! He went on to cut my hair next, and it too looks fantastic. :D My cousin, however, is technologically challenged, and instead of pressing the button to take the picture, she turned the camera off. No pics of my new hair as of yet. ._.

We were pretty overwhelmed at that point, so we called it a day.

Day 2!

Yes, that is me in the spacey chamber, getting a liquid massage. It was interesting, with relaxing music being piped in, and the sound of the "waves" washing over my back. I never got wet! :D Very cool technology.

We just wanted to explore the areas we didn't get to on the previous day, and this meant alot of nails and cosmetics. This was my favorite display set up, because I was so madly in love with that middle poster.

Creative Nails wow-ed me with this poster too, and I bought the nail color she's wearing: Hot Pop Yellow. :D

Henna tattoos that were done on the soles of feet at Creative.

My cousin stopped to sample their latest, earth inspired foot care. The water was cold, but she said it was relaxing, so I tried it too.

That is my skinny chicken leg being pampered.

There were still many more hair shows going on, and we caught White Sands show, by far the most unique. White Sands is like a hair glue of sorts, but can be combed out fairly easily, I'm told. As you can see, there's not a whole lot it won't do. Cosplayers, this is your product!

More from White Sands.

I never said it was pretty, just...yeah, nevermind.

This "interesting" gentleman was showing off clipping techniques. It was cool to watch, even if I could never do it.

More hair models, showing off trends and colors of the moment.

The space brigade, woo! I really liked the puffy girl. Would you believe that is all her hair??

Oh, yes. I copped a feel later on to be sure.

By far the best stage show was put on by Sexy Hair Concepts. If and or when you could get past the bouncer and the velvet rope, you walked into the curtained arena where dancers and models entertained between more models and some wild hair cuts.

The guy in the white shirt is a reject from the "So You Think You Can Dance" tv show. He was adorable and terribly amusing.

I give you video footage! This guy was such a slut! XD All that is missing is the stripper pole, but he got a big reaction from the mostly female crowd. I hope I have the right URL here. :| I'm not good with uploading the vids.
