TVD 5x04
[Spoilers for 5x04]I agree with most of my f-list- last ep wasn't as awesome as the previous eps this season. Stuff I haven't said already in comments or on tumblr:
Stefan must be either a super slow reader, or a dry as dust writer. (Or both.) Also, who wouldn't skip to the last journal to figure out his life as it is? Why zero mention of Katherine? It's almost as if the journals were just there to parallel Elena burning it all down?
ALSO TYLER. FINALLY. MY BRAIN TOTALLY SHORT CIRCUITED. I DIDN'T EXPECT HIM SO SOON.
Forwood is doooooomed. Sigh. I'm hoping Tyler's POV makes sense, but they've set it up very unsympathetically.
Agents of SHIELD
[Spoilers for 1x05]I really liked 1x04, so I was disappointed again by 1x05. I like the Skye reveal (and um, are they foreshadowing that Melinda May and Coulson are her birth parents?!), I like that they are finally picking up the threads from the pilot, but something is still falling flat. Also the Cantonese was bad to the point of distraction, ugh. I'm glad they at least tried Cantonese, and Ming Na's accent was acceptable even if her delivery was stilted, but I honestly would have preferred accented English or Mandarin the way Hollywood usually does. Well, I finally learned Ward's name (Yay!) and his mentor relationship with Skye is starting to grow with me, so I won't tune out yet. I dunno- maybe this is also because I expect a Marvel show to have actualfax superheroes?

[Spoilers for 3x05]OMG JOSS and REESE PARALLELS!!! SHAW BACKSTORY AND REFUSING TO BACK DOWN ON A CASE!!! ROOT KIDNAPPING SHAW!!! FINCH BLOWING UP STUFF AND DEALING WITH ANCIENT RECORDING MATERIALS. HOW CAN THIS SHOW BE ANY MORE AWESOME???
Can I say how it is really bothering me that Finch's name gets dropped all the time in front of POI now? Plus he's showing his face to them so much this season- WHY? It's always needless- I have a feeling they are setting up another Finch kidnapping, but it's OOC for him to be careless with his privacy.
Also rant about fandom: No, Shaw kicking ass does not "EMASCULATE" Reese. No, really. His NOT shooting a gun at the bad guys DOES NOT MAKE HIM LESS OF A MAN.

Character development at the speed of light! LOL Entertaining enough though and it's so comic book-ish that way. BAM! POW! I am intrigued about this Black Canary.
Elementary
[Spoilers for 2x05]The Sherlock was Tony reveal really skeeved me out? Like, they just brushed off Sherlock stalking Joan by the end? Although the running gag about the lack of dead guy was funny.
Grey's
[Spoilers for 10x05 and 10x06]Aw, Alex. I get how he would rather damage his relationship than have it taken away by external forces. But :( at this whole Dad SL. It could have been handled better. It just feels so disjointed.
I like how parenthood is coming between Cristina and Meredith, because I think it is really true IRL. Parents get a lot of judgement from non-parents- "learn to shut up your kids before you reproduce" etc. And I think modern society values women for working more than for raising children. Maybe it's wrong, but it's TRUE. And I think Cristina's view last week was totally valid too- Meredith was coasting; she didn't have the techniques learned and she expected to get into the OR despite that. That wasn't professional, even if it's unfair that Meredith didn't have time to get up to speed.
So I like the way Derek is stepping up for Meredith, although I wish they had been a bit more transparent about the implicit misogyny of last week- she was silenced at the end of their argument about how they all (Meredith, Callie and Derek) assumed his surgeries took priority over hers. So I'm glad Grey's put it out there that it is a totally great choice to step up to the parenting plate when you are the older, more successful MALE surgeon, because I think it is a great message!
WE NEED MORE DEREK SHEPARDS AND RALEIGH BECKETS IN MEDIA IS ALL I'M SAYING.
