Kelly Clarkson Concert- 7/23/09

SO… I want to post about the concert that my sister and I recently went to because it was amazing!
First, to start the story I have to tell how I got the tickets. They were free! LOL. I won the tickets through a 104.3 MyFM contest; it’s one of the few radio stations that my sister and I actually listen to -and don’t change after one song- here in SoCal (most of the other stations we receive are awful…rap and R&B primarily). So I won the tickets to Kelly Clarkson Concert in Costa Mesa (at the Pacific Amphitheater) and was hyped but a little apprehensive about the seats- since they were in Section 7 Row Q. We also got free admission to the ‘Super Fair’ with our tickets so we decided we’d go early and look around. We got directions to the Pacific Amphitheater from MapQuest (which I am liking less and less now) early on (after receiving the tickets) and ets. time was 42 minutes…
Yeah, well I’m glad we left early because it took us LONGER. We left our house around 5pm and arrived (which I constitute as us sitting in parking spot) at 6:30pm or so. Thank goodness concert didn’t start till 8pm. We walked around a little, getting in some sights (the petting zoo and gardens and food stands and such) before we found entrance to amphitheater. We bought two KC t-shirts as mementos- $35 each (yikes!). Then we had our tickets scanned and found our seats and waited! We took pics shot (some will be down below) and had Auntie Anne’s plain pretzels with mustard and a bottle of sprite for our dinner as we waited. At or around 8pm the (hmm what do you call them…) opening act? started. Her name was Crystal, I believe, and she had a band that I’d categorize as rock with a twist (alternative- since she ‘rapped’ at some parts); she was actually really talented- nice voice. Then when they got done around 8:30pm or so the Crystal girl said Kelly should be coming out…
It was another 30 minutes before she actually did but we had fun waiting. There was kind of ‘dance off’ between an older lady (who- as she danced- motioned “47 me” with her hands) and a younger lady (about my age (20); who- in my opinion- looked a bit foolish because she was trying to hard to look good) when an old rock song came on.
Well when Kelly actually came on stage around 9pm everyone was hyped! She sang amazingly! So awesome live! She sang a lot of her new songs- off her album ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’- I think only leaving out three of the songs. She also sang a good amount of her older songs- like Never Again, Behind These Hazel Eyes, Walk Away, Because of You, and Breakaway. AND she also sang Walking After Midnight (Patsy Cline), Some Guys Have All The Luck (Rod Stewart- but instead of ‘Guys’ she changed it up and made it ‘Girls’), and If I Was Your Girl (Janet Jackson).
Kelly Clarkson is AMAZING and so down-to-earth! Great artist and very funny and likable person!
Now this is the part where MapQuest fell even more from my graces. (lol). The concert was over by 10:11pm, we got to our car around 10:30pm and headed off. MapQuest’s directions back to our house (yes- we need reverse directions) were so off it’s not funny. It did give us the first inkling of the right direction to head CA-55N but from there on it was all off. To make matters worse the intelligent people who decide to do construction at night closed off the three left lanes of the highway. So our progression home was SLOW. And the signs we were reading to help us determine which exit was the right one- since MapQuest failed us- to reach home were not clear. We saw a CA-71N exit (which we should have taken but MQ had us going to 71S not N) so we kept going… I called our dad at 12:30am and told him we needed help, we didn’t know where we were. And off course after a little we figured we went to far… We got off the next exit and turned around, heading the opposite way. We did reach home! We arrived home just before 1am. Joy… lol.
We slept. The End.
