Microsoft and Lionhead Studios appear to be taking a new approach to the idea of episodic gaming.

The main idea of episodic gaming is the concept of cheaper to produce, shorter, more frequently released games as opposed to fewer, more spread out, more expensive games.

They are changing the idea by taking a pre-existing game (Fable 2), breaking it up into downloadable "episodes", and releasing the first for free on Xbox Live marketplace.

I don't know how how much each of the remaining four episodes will cost, but considering the MSRP for Fable 2 is down to $29.99 I'd be willing to put money on the odds of each costing 600 MS Points ($7.50).
