Past thread- Raleigh and Eugenie, Sixth year

It wasn't fair! Why did she have to have points deducted from her as well as have to suffer through a broken arm? It had only been a few minutes, and she realised that it would have been more than a few weeks had she been tended to by Muggles. The professor even had the nerve to give her two detentions too! All for creating a rather big fuss in ( Read more... )

"Tom's bed wouldn't be so bad," Raleigh giggled, "although I can't believe he would be so tactless to suggest that." Well, it wasn't exactly tactless if there wasn't that half the chance that either of them had already popped in there at some time or another. "I'd prefer one next to the window, though." Raleigh said with a slight nod. She moved her head so that it was almost resting against Eugenie's shoulder, but she was much too aware of ouches and possible bruises to cuddle up as much as she would like to.

"No, it's fine. When I'm this colourful, maybe the professors will take pity on me when there's a rematch- which I'm sure there will be, tomorrow. From the way that the cows were looking at us." She was happy to have Eugenie around- with her, Raleigh didn't need to learn healing charms, not even minor ones. Together, Eugenie and Raleigh obviously made the perfect person. Minus the extreme Gryffindor aspects of their personalities, of course.

"Last owl they sent to my mum and dad was conveniently intercepted by Sally", and she had sent it right back to her with an amusing (partly because of the horrific spelling) note down the bottom of it. "But I don't think they would mind too much," they understood the need to stand up for yourself. Her father in particular, was as stubborn as they came.

"I can." Eugenie groaned. "I made the mistake of joking about it when I was with Daniel -- he's the one with the bed by the window -- and now they've got some sort of pool running, with who can get us first. I told them it'd be in their dreams only, but boys will be boys." Especially when their reputations were at stake. Being able to boast both Eugenie and Raleigh? Yeah. Well, it wasn't going to happen.

"Maybe we could try a hex or two this time," Eugenie suggested thoughtfully. "I've been working on rapid skin regrowth, so maybe I could charm their mouths shut? At least that way the bitches won't be able to say anything. And silence is hardly incriminating." Yes, even though there'd been countless threats about suspension and expulsion, Eugenie and Raleigh, the rag tag team that they were, still got into regular fights. Life was more interesting that way, anyway.

"Now that is disgusting," Raleigh stated. It was quite distasteful- like they would ever go for the same guys, especially so close to each other. "Do you think that Noah would be for getting in on the pool? We could get him to raise the stakes and he would share the money with us, don't you think?" Raleigh liked having money, and it wasn't as if she didn't have reputation enough anyway. What more were a few rumours? It's not like she would ever do anything with Noah, even though he was a lot nicer than the other boys. Nice did not always coincide with attractiveness.

Raleigh nodded with Eugenie mentioned hexes. Raleigh was good at Charms and DADA, but the use of her wand always eluded her when she wasn't in a classroom setting. Fists were quicker- more reliable (not to mention hair pulling). Born as a Muggle, Raleigh would take her entire life to adapt to magic, just like it would take her entire life for her to really feel that she belonged. "Teeth-gluing charm, and then the skin regrowth afterwards." Raleigh knew from second year that she could do that first hex quite reliably, the second she wasn't so sure about. She had never ventured into healing.

"Do you think Dumbledore would be able to soothe the professors about us resorting to hexes?" After all, they had been none too happy about fist fights, but would they view hexes to be even worse? None of it mattered anyway. Raleigh was already of age, or soon would be, and that meant that she could do magic however she pleased- regardless of locality. Being in the outside world wouldn't be so bad, as long as she got to do something.

Noah was a viable option, Eugenie thought, mostly because if anyone was close to being the third member of their team (and a brother to the pair of them), it was him. Noah was a muggleborn like Raleigh, but meeker, and so the girls had (in first year) taken him under their wing and given him their protection. Now he galavanted with them, providing them with the (oft-times) lacking male opinion to their hairbrained schemes. Sometimes it worked a treat. "He definitely would. Well, at the very least he'd buy us some of Honeydukes finest." She sighed happily. Chocolate, chocolate. The way to a girl's heart. "We have him trained well." She beamed.

See this? This was why Eugenie and Raleigh worked so well together. They were on the same wavelength. They understood each other. Eugenie would have one idea, and Raleigh would expand on it to make it fantastic. "If we did it together it'd work a treat." She nodded, figuring out the logistics of it all in her head. They'd have to be calculating about it, because if Eugenie mucked the spell up, she could tear the skin or stretch it. Not that they weren't fitting punishments, but Raleigh was right. The professors were edging ever closer to make good on their threats of kicking the girls out of Hogwarts. And Eugenie had checked (well, batted her eyelashes at Julian, the delicious Ravenclaw and promised all sorts of things until he agreed to do it). No one had been expelled from Hogwarts in over a fifty years. They couldn't afford to break that spell. "Maybe you're right." She contemplated. "Although they were pretty pissed that I bit that stupid slut. I was disgusted, but more at the possibility I might catch something horrid."

"He definitely would. Well, at the very least he'd buy us some of Honeydukes finest."

"Or we can get money and then buy chocolate," Raleigh replied. She scrunched her nose up at her own greed. It wasn't that she was a horrible person, or that she was always looking out just for herself, but she rather did like money... and Noah might be able to raise the price quite a bit so that it was worth Raleigh being a little greedy... although it would be worth it just to see Noah gain status in his dormitory. "He's a sweetheart, and easy to train, but it means we have to look after him more." Raleigh would surely kill anyone who hurt poor Noah.

Raleigh expressed her worries about expulsion, and was glad to hear that she wasn't completely crazy to think that the professors' reactions would be less than brilliant, unless one meant brilliant in the apocalyptic manner. "If you come down with something I'll rush you to the hospital wing, no problem. Maybe then she'll be quarantined and she'll be that mortified that she won't come back to school." Raleigh itched her neck a little, "they wouldn't ever really make us go in different dorms, would they? They would know that we'd cause a whole lot more trouble if they did that... wouldn't they?"
