10 Words to describe your character: Shy, giving, nervous, quiet, caring, kind, sensible, sensitive, timid, scatterbrained
EXTENDED APPLICATION -- PLEASE DO AT LEAST A PARAGRAPH ON EACH OF THESE, UNLESS THEY ARE STATED TO BE OPTIONAL
Personality: Isabel's mother died in an accident when she was seven, an experience that shattered her tiny little heart. Always a shy child, since then she's been timid and quiet, as though afraid of the sound of her own voice. She was raised mostly by her Muggle father, a kindhearted yet decidedly kooky man, which has given Isabel a skewed sort of perspective. Although her mother made her well-aware of her magical potential, without her guidance Isabel could only rely on her father's exaggerations and tall-tales. Seen as an oddball in school, she would remark on the difference of things magical and Muggle - she didn't know any better, you see - which did not win her many friends. She also grew up without the benefit of much Muggle technology - no television or computer, only a very temperamental telephone and archaic farm equipment. Still, she is close to her doting father, often helping him with his oddjobs, maintaining the farm, and keeping house.
Strengths: Both magical and personality:Isabel works well with her hands, a skill she learned while helping her father repair electronics or sew new drapes. Like a good Hufflepuff, she is both helpful and dependable, and, like a powerful adhesive, she sticks to things she likes, like Jerry cat. Isabel is impressionable; though it is a bit of a liability, it could certainly turn out for the better if she has good influences. She has a very strong attachment to living things, like plants and animals, so her strengths lie with herbology and most likely care of magical creatures. She has yet to show any proficiency in anything else.
Weaknesses: Both magical and personality:Isabel is a little too shy for her own good. She is not confident or outgoing enough to make friends on her own, and would be absolutely delighted if
anyone even gave a thought to her. Easily swayed, she could quite quickly fall in with the wrong crowd. She's definitely more of a follower than a leader. Her toughest subjects are astronomy - she hasn't quite grasped the significance of its miniscule nuances.
Fears: What isn't Isabel afraid of? While she seems pretty confident working with plants and animals, she's shy around people and in new places. Right now, she's most afraid of being called
on in class. She can't even fathom a fear larger than that - something big like speaking in front of a crowd might make her poor little heart explode.
History: Isabel really hasn't been up to much besides helping her father. Since the death of her mother, she goes out of her way to avoid situations that may bring extra drama or attention to herself. She has never left St. Bride before coming to Hogwarts. So far at school she's managed to stay out of the way almost completely. Never late, never loud, and never an outstanding student, she is the one on the class list who the professor forgets about. She goes out of her way to stay out of the way of other students as well.
Physical Description: At the least, provide base details of build, height, eye/hair colour, and complexion. A little on the short and stocky side, Isabel has an athletic build thanks to years of hard work. Because she's outdoors often, she has a ruddy, freckled complexion and her naturally dark red hair has streaks of blond. There's little she can do short of weed-whacking to keep her massive
curls under control. Her large brown eyes, rather doe-like, are her only outstanding feature.
Significant Relationships:
Family: Optional: Isabel and her Muggle father, Waldo, are very close.
Friends: Optional: Isabel is not friends with any of her peers, but gets along well with some of the older residents of St. Bride.
Other: Optional: Isabel loves her cat, Jerry, an old companion of her mother's whom she has adopted as her own. She's also the second cousin of first-year Ravenclaw student Pimento Pepper (their fathers are cousins). Still, they have never met before coming to Hogwarts.
Special Considerations: None
COMMUNITY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS -- ONLY ANSWER THE SECTION APPLICABLE TO YOUR CHARACTER
Hogwarts:
Year: First
House: Hufflepuff
Why are they in that house? Not bright enough for Ravenclaw, not brave enough for Gryffindor, and not pure enough for Slytherin, it seemed the only place she could go. Still, Isabel embodies the dependable, industrious, and hard-working Hufflepuff ideal. Fiercely loyal and patient as a saint, Isabel truly belongs in Hufflepuff, even if she doesn't feel like she fits in.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE -- PLEASE ENSURE THAT THIS IS IN THIRD PERSON NARRATIVE POINT OF VIEW
The owlery was calm late in the morning, the owls settled after early morning deliveries. Isabel held a letter to her father in one hand, using her other arm to clutch her cat. Jerry was well-behaved for the
most part, but so many birds in one place might prove too strong of a temptation.
Isabel set her letter on the floor and extended her hand towards the nearest bird. It looked away, uninterested, and Isabel hummed a little to get its attention. Reluctantly the bird stepped from its perch to Isabel's arm, and in turn she set Jerry down and picked her letter up. Stepping on Jerry's tail gently (it's not that she didn't trust him, really, it's just a precaution) she stroked the owl while fastening the letter to its talons.
