After breakfast yesterday, and reading the Daily Prophet, Natalie had spent much of the day confined to her room. Rather than being mopey or whatever, though, she'd done quite a bit of studying for Transfiguration, wanting to do well with the new Professor. Which kept her mind off of things.
Not that she hadn't seen this coming.
But Justin had sent her an owl, reassuring her, and that made her feel a bit better, and besides, she couldn't hole up in the common room forever. Maddox would start worrying about her, and she didn't want that. So she was in the library, and though she'd come with every intention of studying Potions, she found herself instead curled up in one of the large armchairs, Wizard Bird, Eliis Graveworthy's first novel, open in front of her.

Bri headed straight for the library after class. She felt like she was just so incredibly behind and it seemed the best place to get caught up. She knew she wasn't likely to get much actual studying done later with Tim, so she figured she should get to it now, before meeting him fr dinner.
She grabbed a few books off various shelves for a little extra research into the areas she'd missed out on and took a seat in an unoccupied chair, very near the one Natalie was occupying.
"Good afternoon, Natalie," she said. She didn't know the older girl well, they'd only spoke a time or two, but when Bri had been a prefect - before she left - she'd made it her business to know every person in her house by name at least.

Natalie looked up when someone greeted her, and said hello almost absently, going back to her book before looking up again just a moment later in shock. Wait a minute... "Bri? When did you get back?" Granted, she didn't know the younger girl very well, but she had known that she had left, and was surprised to see her suddenly in the library.

"Just this morning," Bri replied, looking over to the older girl with a smile. "I guess Father finally decided I'd suffered enough. Though our Professor's don't seem to feel the same. I've so much work, I'll never get caught up." She smiled ruefully and reached for her Potions book, figuring it might be best to get the easier subject out of the way and save the hardest stuff for last.

Natalie smiled in sympathy. "Yeah, that must be hard to be thrust back into classes like that," she agreed. "Still, though, it's nice to see you back around! And you're smart enough, I'm sure you'll catch up in no time." She smiled encouragingly.

"Thanks, Natalie," Bri said, smiling a bit shyly at the seventh year. She nodded towards her book. "I'm starting with Potions since I figure that'll be the easiest for me."
"What about you? How have things been?"
Bri hadn't quite gotten around to getting caught up on The Daily Prophet yet, so she was dying for all the latest news.

Natalie laughed softly. "Another Potions fan? You shouldn't have too hard of a time catching up; we've been getting new Professor's like crazy."
"Things are... well, good," she said. Which was... sort of true, but she wasn't about to go spouting off to someone she barely knew, anyway. "And you? Did you have any fun at all away from Hogwarts?"

Bri nodded. "Potions has always been my best subjects," she said, blushing modestly. Her skill in the class was one of the few things she would really boast about and even then it embarassed her a bit to do so.
She frowned and shook her head as the girl asked about her time away. "Fun? At Durmstrangs? I honestly don't think those two go toogether."

"Absolutely," Bri said, nodding her head. "I'm very glad to be back home. It's just going to be dreadful going through everything and getting caught up. I think I'll save Transfiguration for last. And I suppose that book Lia sent me will have to wait a bit."
She shook her head and grinned. "It IS interesting. The way everything works together and there's so much you can do with Potions. And, really, you've just to follow the directions to come up with something useful." Her eyes sparkled as she spoked, making it obvious that she had a real passion for the subject.
"How's the new Professor then?" she asked. "As good as Jupiter was?" She frowned a bit, missing her old Potions Master. It seemed she'd returned to almost a whole new staff, which was a little... unsettling.
