Wednesday, October 4th - Late Evening, the Astronomy Towerderek_blyOctober 24 2007, 02:33:39 UTC
It had been a pretty good anniversary, Derek thought. Why it was that Hannah had gone to all of her classes and he'd skipped his, Derek wasn't entirely sure but hey, Potions was in the middle of the day and spending that with Hannah was more important than having her be free while he was sleeping. And yeah, there was still the parent issue and Hannah catching up so her going made sense. Anyway, Derek had dropped Astronomy but he was here now to catch Hannah as she came out of class. He wasn't quite done stealing time with her and well, he had his reasons for wanting to meet her at the tower.

Mmmm, it was late and Hannah was bored. Astronomy was much more boring this year. She wasn't sure why. As she walked out of the Astronomy lab, Hannah squinted and realized that Derek was there. How nice!
"Hey you, did you miss me so much that you couldn't wait until I got back?" Hannah teased as she let her hand find his.

"Something like that." Derek's hand closed around Hannah's and he pulled her closer as the rest of the class shuffled past. "Your hand is cold," he teased, bumping against her. It was a little chilly out. Kind of like it had been last year.
Derek smiled to himself and watched people leave. Honestly who wanted to stick around after Astronomy? Himself excluded, of course. "You're not too cold are you?"

Hannah laughed at his comment about her cold hand. "Nope, not cold at all," she replied honestly. She was wearing a warm coat, just not gloves.
Hannah started to follow the crowd, oblivious that Derek had come here for any other reason than to walk with her back to the Common Room. It was a little odd though, as it was quite late already. Not that she'd noticed or even cared. Derek tended to do random things that she didn't understand. Plus with what today was, she could hardly question him for showing up. He didn't immediately move though, so she glanced back at him.

Nope, Derek didn't move, just let her take a step and stopped her lightly by not following as her arm pulled away, keeping hold of her hand. The weather was better today than it had been for awhile. It was clear on and off and at the moment there was enough light filtering through the scattered clouds to illuminate the tower, which would have made it better for class. Not that Derek was concerned about that. No, honestly he was glad right now because it meant he could see Hannah, faintly, but in that beautiful moonlit kind of way. Not that she wasn't always

Slowly but surely the gears in Hannah's brain were turning. There was a reason that Derek was here, and when he kissed her, a light went on in her brain. She knew exactly why he was here. The dawn of realization was apparent in her eyes as she looked into his. This was... well he was... the sweetest person in the world!
Hannah suddenly wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close. He was such a great boyfriend. She didn't really know what to say that could convey these emotions, so she said nothing, just rested her head on his chest and held onto him.

She knew.
That should not have made Derek as happy as it did but, it did. He was glad not to be the only one that possibly had all of the details of their first kiss committed to memory. Okay, he probably was. That was alright though. He hadn't even realized that he remembered so clearly until today. Killing time waiting for Hannah to come back from class- on the Astronomy Tower- and thinking about last year had just popped it into his head. As if he wasn't going to meet her anyway.
Derek pressed a kiss against the side of her head and held Hannah back as he smiled. They didn't move for a bit because Derek was quite happy here. With the fact that they were still here. And all of it. "You want to go grab stuff and head to the tent?" he asked after a moment.

Hannah was still rather blown away by the fact that Derek had remembered. It was an awkward and weird night last year but ultimately had been good. Well obviously.
His mention of them heading to the tent brought a huge grin to her face and she hugged him tightly before letting go. "Of course, let's go!"

Awkward was definitely one way to look at last year. It was safe to say Derek had had no idea of what he was getting into then. If he had...who knew. A lot had happened. But then, maybe he didn't like easy. It would explain a lot. He wouldn't have been nearly so attracted if it were calm and sweet all the time. Derek wasn't sure he'd know what to do with that. Honestly, it was so much better with Hannah than he could have pictured too.
Yep. Calling it a day and turning in with Hannah sounded pretty good to Derek. He kept hold of her hand and lead them back inside.
