Hannah had gone upstairs to get some books. Yes, she was going to study all afternoon. Except that these books were just for show. In case of anyone wandering by and wondering why she was just sitting around. Because she would definitely be able to pretend she was studying. RIGHT.

Either way she was now waiting for Derek. They had a nice lunch together. It was a cautiously optimistic sign for the rest of the day. Actually, Hannah wasn't that worried. She'd gotten over the whole anniversary curse thing, especially over the summer when she couldn't even see Derek on their anniversaries. That was horrible.

It felt odd (suspicious?) to be skipping double Potions today. It was his first skipped NEWT class but hey, Derek trusted Nora. Or rather Dome's notes. In any event, so long as he knew what they'd covered from someone, he wouldn't be missing much. Derek supposed what he was really anxious about was not getting caught hanging about too obviously with Hannah- particularly by members of their Quidditch team. But, whatever. Derek was far too excited about today to care much; especially when he got to the Common Room and saw Hannah "studying".

Thank you, empty Ravenclaw Tower.

Derek bit his lip and walked over, touching Hannah's shoulder as he leaned in to kiss her. The snog held on, unrushed and encouraged by the comfortable perfection (so far as Derek was concerned) of Hannah's lips against his. When he finally pulled back it was with a smile. "How's work going?"

Hannah welcomed the kiss, grateful as ever that Nora had found a way for Derek to skip Potions. This afternoon had better be well worth it. Plus, Hannah hadn't even given Derek his present yet! Although middle of the afternoon in the Common Room was probably not the best place to present it to him. But hey, maybe jerks who used that word might see it. Like say... JFK. She chuckled at that thought.

"Work is... done! Actually I'm all caught up and I even am a little ahead in a few classes. So this afternoon I am all yours," she said with a grin as she tossed the books away. Psh, books.

"Yeah?" Derek slipped into a chair next to Hannah's. He liked the sound of this. "Well good. I'd hate to think I'm missing out on Potions of all things just to watch you study," he said jokingly. "Actually...that might be worth it too." Even without trying, Hannah was distracting. It would be easier if she weren't so exactly what he wanted. And if her hair wasn't so tempting. Or her neck. Her skin. Maybe it was a good thing he had Potions without Hannah this year. If he screwed up brewing something at this point because he wasn't paying attention it would have far less amusing results than third year ( ... )

Hannah planned to walk into the Ravenclaw Common room. Instead, she walked into a wall. When she finally got to the CR, she was stumbling along the wall. Now, to get up the stairs to her dorm. Easy enough, right?

((tag to Derek!))

After Hannah's very drunkenly written owl, Derek had decided that waiting up for her in the Common Room wasn't a bad idea. She hadn't been particularly happy with him after yesterday and had kind of been doing her own thing today, which he understood. He didn't mean to be in this situation all the time Tobias just...made it very difficult not to hate him. But it sucked for Hannah and Derek knew that. Anyway, the point was Hannah had been off doing her own thing most of the day and it didn't sound like her weekend had gotten much better. And she was drunk so, yeah. Derek had grabbed his Potions work and camped out in one of the overstuffed chairs to wait for her to make it back from wherever she and Anora had been. If anyone asked at least he looked like he had a reason to be up- plus, you know, might as well get something done ( ... )

Hey, Hannah was standing! Excellent! She glanced over and did not quite realize that the reason she was able to stand was because Derek was helping her. "Derek!" Hannah threw her arms around him. "I had a wonderful night. Anora is amazing. We sent owls! I sent Olivia a bunch. OH MERLIN! Did you know that I punched her today? And got more Wednesday detentions? I... need some pie. Do you have any?"

Hannah was a big bundle of random thoughts that seemed to all collect into one linear thought to her. The fact that she was slurring and making little to no sense was lost on her.

"Pie?" Derek tried not to laugh and concentrated on holding Hannah steady against him. Whatever she was saying about detention and punching he'd have to sort out later. So long as she wasn't hurt, it could wait. "No, I can't say that I do. I'll get you some later," he promised. She'd want something entirely different in a few minutes anyway.

"Come on, let's sit you down for a bit." He couldn't very well get her into her own dorm so taking care of her here seemed like the next best option. Sobering some before she passed out probably wasn't a bad idea either.

With his book laid out for reference, Derek was bent over one of the tables in the common room working on his essay. NEWT level unfortunately meant more work that Derek actually had to stop and do before. Luckily, the subject he was working on right now was Transfig so all things considered, it was still a good day. Tuesdays and Thursday's kind of ruled. And hey, once he had this done he would be free for the rest of the evening which sounded pretty good to him- even if there was another six inches that needed writing. It was Transfig. No problem there.

Hannah had just come from some sort of class. Bad times. She knew she should have gotten her reading done on Monday but Monday was a fairly horrible day. So now she was getting set to actually do some work. As she walked into the Common Room to fetch her books, she spotted Derek who also appeared to be doing work. So, she ran upstairs to get her books and reappeared minutes later ready to do some serious reading.

"Hey there, Ravenclaw boy." Hannah greeted Derek as she plopped down beside him and opened a textbook.

Derek had glanced up to smile at Hannah as she walked through the common room and headed upstairs. A bloke didn't just not notice his girlfriend walking by after all. His thoughts might have strayed a bit but he was fairly well back on track once she was out of sight. Her returning and joining him with books, however, he hadn't expected- mostly because they historically failed at studying together (for obvious reasons). It was a new year though and they were giving being productive a try. Academically productive, he should say. Derek wasn't sure it was going to work today.

He looked up with a smirk and tried to keep his mind on Transfiguration. "Hey. How are you this afternoon?" The very model of flirting casual disinterest, Derek looked back to his parchment. He even managed to finish writing the sentence that was in his head. WIN for Derek!

Hannah watched Derek for a moment and smiled at his impressive concentration. "I am excellent this afternoon, how are you?" She peered over his shoulder to see what he was working on and was not surprised to see what it was. Derek was predictable at least. She nudged him with her shoulder. "Well, there's a surprise."

Managing to not paw her boyfriend was quite the task sometimes, but Hannah did it. In fact, she started reading her History of Magic textbook. Good work, Hannah!
