Your assignment this week is Bindlegnomes.

So named for their affinity for collecting fabric and rolling it up in a bundle to be carried around wherever they go, this particular breed of gnome has come to be labeled a pest in recent times though they were once quite popular. Bindlegnomes love cloth of any kind and are well known for stealing socks, scarves, and any other small, easily missed article of clothing. In spite of this, they are actually quite friendly toward persons with magic and will sometimes seek out witches or wizards to live with simply to be near by magical goings on. They have a tendency to present their keepers with gifts of fabric when they are particularly pleased, though whether or not the item was yours to begin with doesn't seem to matter much to them. Bindlegnomes will do most anything they are asked if you give them a nice bit of cloth and because of this they were once kept as the "poor man's house elf". However, their role as helping hands largely fell out of popularity in the 1700s because of their compulsive need to touch things and their tendency to unfold clothes simply to roll about in them. Also, if they're fond of what you're wearing they can become quite cuddly.

Your task is to observe your Bindlegnome and see what he or she likes. Talk to them, see if you can get them to perform a task for you. There is an assortment of fabric in this box at the front of the class and I suggest you experiment to see what your Bindlegnome likes. (Keep an eye on any loose articles of clothes you may have. I will not be held responsible should these go missing. You've been warned.) These are friendly, well mannered creatures and I'll ask you don't abuse them with your requests. If I see anyone being cruel you'll receive detention and a reminder that this course is entitled Care of Magical Creatures. Have fun!

CoMC was one of J.J.'s favorite classes. Who wouldn't love a class that had animals in it? And sometimes they were bloody insane too! Almost as brilliant as Herbology in his mind, even if he wasn't as good in that class.

As usual he didn't read the board, and instead contented himself with just sitting there and staring at the odd creature. Someone had to come in and then the fun would begin, or at least they would tell him the instructions. And even if they didn't he could watch them and copy.

See? He did have some smarts after all.

Anya found her way into the classroom, not really sure what kind of a mood she was in at the moment. It was kind of an indescribable feeling. After having that talk with Derek... well, the one in which she was a brat to him, and then he ended up being his amazing self... yeah, that had been really good. It made her feel so good about herself!

So you could say she was in a right dandy mood at the moment!!

"Hey Jay," She greeted him with a warm smile, "Excited for this one as much as I am?" Anya love this class, despite her having a knack for not being too great at taking care of animals... but the magical creatures always astounded her!

J.J. grinned as Anya came in and nodded, "Course love. Gotta love the little creatures." He went back to staring at the creatures and then looked at her out of the corner of his eye.

"Soo...what are we supposed to do?" Oh total moocher, no matter how early in the school year and he would still make her look at the board even if it was the last day of school.

It was tradition! He never looked at the bloody board, she should know that by now.

Yes, but also as tradition? Anya wasn't going to tell him!! No. He was just being a lazy bum, and she would be insane to tell him what to do when he was perfectly able to look up at the board and READ it for himself! Honestly, sometimes she just didn't know what to do with him.

"I don't know, why don't you tell me for once?" She looked down at the particular creature that they would be getting to know. How cute! "You know, it's healthy to mix things up every once in awhile. Get some change going on in your life. Good for the soul... or something. You might even come to find that you like it."

She kinda had stopped listening to herself talk, for once, so Anya really didn't know what she was on about. Hopefully it sounded convincing enough.

But that was no fun! Weren't friends supposed to help one another? Besides there was no way in hell was he looking up at the board and wouldn't do the work. Stubborn this one was and he was willing to have his grade go down to prove a point. Or just be a bloody idiot. That worked as well.

"Oh really?" J.J. grinned and looked at her with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, "Well how about you read it today and I'll read it Wednesday. That way we can 'mix it up' and it'll all be right."

He looked down at the creatures and reached forward to pet it, "Besides, if I said it how do you know it's right? I'd tell you the bloody wrong thing."

She rolled her eyes, thinking that he was such a daft cow sometimes. Seriously. Why was she friends with him? Maybe she was the daft one for hanging around him so much... if only she could get away. But alas, she was kind of stuck. He had made a nice little next in her heart and wasn't looking like he was going to leave anytime soon. Ass.

"Because you're a liar and I don't believe you would do it on Wednesday," She glared at him a bit blankly, not having anger behind it, just glaring because he was being annoying.

And then she rolled her eyes again, only this time it was much bigger. Because he was REALLY stupid if he thought she was going to fall for that, "I wouldn't let you tell me anything. I'm reading the bloody board for myself. So have fun doing... whatever it is you're going to do, while the rest of us do the assignment and get good marks."

That's right, she was stuck with him. Too bad he was stuck with her as well, but lets face it he didn't mind that much. No matter what she was his best mate and that's all that really mattered.

"A liar? Me?" He feigned being insulted and gasped, "How could you think something so horrible love?" And he did love being annoying so he was glad with the blank look he got. It was bloody perfect.

He just shrugged and continued to grin while watching her and keeping eye on the rest of the class. See he had learned how to observe what others were doing over the years and by cheating off a few people namely Logan in the past he was able to pull off fine enough grades. "Don't let me stop you then."

She knew he loved getting a reaction out of her. Which was kind of upsetting, because no matter how hard Anya tried... she still couldn't help reacting!! No matter how many times people had told her to just ignore whoever because they just wanted to see her go all dramatic... she couldn't ignore things!

"Very easily. Trust me." She said almost under her breath before smiling down at her Bindlegnome. They were kind of cute! She hoped she'd get on well with hers and that she could find out what exactly it liked -- maybe the professor would even let her keep it!! That was doubtful, as she had tried to keep some of the creatures they'd had in class before... but if she kept trying, maybe one day he'd make an exception.

And she wasn't daft. Anya had watched JJ enough to know that he was smart enough to pick up on the assignments just by watching people do the work. This, she thought evilly, she could use to her advantage. Or better yet, she could always just lie and give him another assignment... Hmm. So many options. But then, it would be hard if he caught sight of what the others were doing. So that was out.

Anya stopped herself from throwing a rude hand gesture his way as she walked to the front of the class to get a few pieces of cloth -- different types in order to see which her Bindlegnome liked best.

But that was why everyone loved her! Because she had reactions and wasn't just some bloody flat doll like person. Besides where would he get all of his fun from then when he's bored? Things weren't half exciting when she wasn't going crazy as usual.

Then again those times were also more emotional and cuddling times and he would rather do anything than that. Just bloody...urgh.

Exactly, either way she would end up helping him in some way. That is unless she didn't do the assignment and that was fine by him. It would just be more amusing because she would get all bloody pissed over nothing. Heh.

As she walked to the front of the room, he focused his attention on his...creature. He hadn't figured out what it was yet, obviously, and instead just casually looked around the room, seeing the scraps of cloth that people were giving their creatures. Well he'd need some of those wouldn't he?

Grinning, he shoved his hands in his pockets and walked up, grabbing a handful and then sitting down next to Anya again and holding up a piece and waving it in front of his creature.

"So...like it?" He didn't know what to say to it. It seemed like everyone else was telling it to do something but he...couldn't understand them yet. Eh.

((HAHAHA I JUST REALIZED WHAT THE ASSIGNMENT WAS. *dies* And if he figures it out? POOR ANYA. lmao))

((hahaha! you're a dork! you're as bad as he is!!! >.> even if i didn't take the time to read it all until the last post <.< still. you're horrible :p))

She was cooing softly to the thing -- which she had endearingly pet named Henrietta(she had no knowledge whether her Bindlegnome was a male or a female, but oh well!) when JJ came back and started waving the cloth he had. Ugh. She kind of despised him for being able to catch on so quickly. It was quite some talent, she thought annoyingly. Not one to brag about, though.

"So, Henrietta, which do you prefer?" She said softly, not wanting him to over hear her or anything, "Do ya like the silk scarf? Or the woolen sock? Or perhaps you like this piece of a cotton blanket?"

It really wasn't that difficult to catch on. All you had to do was watch people and it becomes pretty bloody obvious. Though he would take all the credit for it, of course. It was a brilliant talent and he would rub it in her face as much as possible.

Ha.

Oh and that name? Got a huge snort of laughter from him. "Henrietta? Really love?" He didn't catch the rest of it and frankly? Not really caring that much. It didn't look that bloody difficult.

Well. That was clearly something that made them different. JJ liked to watch people. He could figure them out because he was observant. Anya, on the other hand, was too wrapped up in herself to notice other people, let alone figure what the hell they were up to. No. She'd likely just sit in her chair, dazing off doing nothing if she didn't read the assignments.

"Yes, Henrietta! You got a problem with that? At least I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing, rather than you, lazy ass. So shut the hell up." Okay. Anya wasn't sure where that hostility came from, but then she kind of just laughed at herself, sticking her tongue out at him. She wasn't... really mad or anything, but she was quite annoyed with him.

"Besides, its better than anything you could come up with."

J.J. raised and eyebrow at her outburst and just blinked. Classic Anya overreacting? Probably, though he brushed it off and grinned when she stuck her tongue out. See? Normalcy was restored and it was just the usual.

"Who says I'm not doing what I'm supposed to be doing? See?" He picked a piece of cloth and held it out to his creature, "Want it? It looks brilliant doesn't it?" And that would be him pulling crap out of his arse as usual. In fact he didn't even care if he actually completed this assignment now. It was more amusing to tease Anya and guess what? He was doing that by not working!

"Is that a challenge?"

Yeah, yeah. She was overreacting, but it was... kind of fun. Well, it was fun to cuss him out, anyway. Heh. And yeah! See? They weren't MAD at each other. He wasn't offended. So it all worked out!

And then he just had to be... ugh! He had to be spot on with what he was doing, didn't he? It was so annoying! "You are an ass..." Said under hear breath as she flashed more pieces of cloth in front of her own gnome. Whatever. As long as he didn't end up getting a better mark then her, she'd be fine.

"Not a challenge," Anya said smoothly, "Just the truth." Because clearly Henrietta was the best name for a gnome EVARR!

"I know it's great but you shouldn't be staring at it love," he said with a cheeky grin and shaking his ass just for good measure. "If I had known you still would be so entranced by it after that dance love, I would have taped it for you." And by dance he meant the prank last year involving a certain sir mix a lot song and a few boas. A quality one he had buggered Logan into doing.

He rolled his eyes and sighed, "That's because you haven't heard mine yet." And Henrietta? Oh he could do better than that by far.
