Thursdays were busy days. At least, they were now that Jeremy was actually going to class.
He had to be up at the crack of dawn to make it to Care of Magical Creatures and then he had classes throughout the day. His only salvation was the fact that he had double Potions in the afternoons. Sure, he hated class but he enjoyed the subject so it wasn't as torturous.
Lunch was still, by far, his absolute favorite time of the day.
Sitting at the Slytherin table with his normal mound of potatoes and peas, Jeremy's attention would occasionally movie to the entrance of the Great Hall. He was hoping that Nic was going to join him for lunch but he wouldn't have been surprised to find that she'd decided to skip the meal and study for a bit.
NEWTs were soon and though Jeremy wasn't worried about them, the rest of the castle seemed to be.

Well, maybe she wasn't who he was hoping for, but Dari couldn't resist joining Jeremy when she spotted him alone in the Great Hall. It felt like she hadn't seen him in ages and a chance to have lunch with her best friend just wasn't to be wasted.
She grinned as she slipped into the seat next to him. "How's the volcano coming?" she teased as she started to pull some food onto her own plate. Yes, it was well known, especially by Dari, that Jeremy liked to play with his food. It was one of about a million things she loved about him.

"It's not a volcano," he answered with a bright grin. "Technically it's still just a hill but I'm not finished working yet."
Jeremy didn't try to hide his childish habits from Dari. She'd seen him make potato and pea volcanoes since he was a little boy... there was no use in pretending that he didn't still do it.
"How are you?" he asked happily.
No, she wasn't who he was hoping for but he was always happy to see his best friend...

Dari grinned and leaned in to kiss his cheek. It was a simple gesture, one she did without even thinking about it, and it was plain that she was in a relatively decent mood before she even answered him.
"Well, I'm apparently having lunch with my favorite person in the whole world," she teased as she helped herself to some tea, adding some milk and reaching for the honey, "so I'd say I'm doing pretty fantastic."
Yes, finals were approaching, which were stressing her out and she'd been tired and not feeling very well lately, but a simple lunch with Jeremy was enough to make her forget all of that amd just be happy for a bit.

Jeremy accepted the kiss to his cheek with a smile before brushing his own lips over her cheek in a half hearted kiss.
A bright grin flooded his face when she said that she was fantastic. He liked to hear that. She was his best friend, he liked to hear that she was doing well.
"Studying like crazy, I'd expect?" he questioned. "I hear that the end of year exams are coming up... even some sort of SALAMANDER tests."
Clearly, he was teasing but he gave her a look of pure seriousness as his spoon moved over the potatoes on his plate.
"They're saying that us seventh years should study that these SALAMANDERs are important."

"Very cute," she told him, shaking her head, but rewarding his (completely lame) joke with another smile. This was great. Having lunch with Jeremy, joking with Jeremy.
The truth was that she was studying hard for end of year exams, but she wasn't stressing nearly as much as she had last year (or as she most likely would next year).
"Well, right now?" she added, grinning again, "I am having lunch with my best friend. Later, I have to study Charms, though." She made a face at that. Charms were not her best subject at all.

Jeremy grinned.
He knew that his joke had been lame... that was the entire appeal. He could be lame with Dari and her face would still light up in a completely gorgeous smile.
"Charms?" he continued to tease. "I bet you're looking forward to that. I know how much you love the subject."
After a slight nudge with his shoulder, he gave her a serious moment.
"Do you have someone to help you?" he asked. "I know that I'm not the king of studying but I could give you a hand if you need it."

Dari stuck her tongue out at him when he teased her. Yes, she knew he was only joking, but, still, charms. She couldn't help making a face at the mere idea of having to study the subject.
She couldn't pout for long, though, when he gave her that serious look and offered to help her. Dari gave him a slightly skeptical look, as if she almost doubted that he really wanted to help her study, though she had to seriously consider the offer.
On the one hand, Jeremy wasn't exactly the kind of the good work ethic and she wasn't sure they'd get much quality studying done. On the other hand, though, an excuse to spend even more time with her best friend was not to be turned down.
"I'd love some help if you're free," she answered finally, grinning and tilting her head at him as she popped some fruit into her mouth. "We can even study outside if you want," she added as extra incentive. "I know you hate to be stuck indoors this time of year."
