Werewolves. Werewolves. Sodding, bloody werewolves. After reading the paper this morning they were all Derek could think about. The fact that he was trying very hard not to do any such thing only seemed to make it worse.
He scanned the Great Hall as he walked in for lunch. Hannah wasn't at the Claw table, which was possibly for the best. He wasn't really sure. Derek was trying to give her some space again even though he'd kind of like to see her right now. If she was really worried by the news she would have stuck with him longer this morning or come back to find him again by now, wouldn't she? Yeah. Derek didn't know if Hannah had been thinking it was a werewolf before the news today; he had. Since she'd told him Saturday night he'd been worrying about it but he hadn't said anything. He wasn't particularly happy to have it in the open and confirmed either. Anyway, Derek didn't want to keep thinking about it and so when he spotted Anya at the Puff table, he walked straight over and slid in next to her.
"Not late for something are you? I'd hate to eat alone over here," he said, reaching for an orange. "Come to think of it you lot are the enemy this week. I shouldn't even be seen talking to you," he teased.

Still fidgeting, Anya didn't even notice who had sat next to her till he spoke up. "Oh! Derek! haha..umm..no..I mean..yes..I mean..." She held her mouth closed for a moment and took a deep breath to try and get ahold of herself.
"I'd never make you eat alone..but yes we are enemies this week and all. I'm fairly certain we are going to kick your but." Anya's eyes sparkled for a second, the talk of quidditch and Derek sitting next to her taking her mind off things.

Derek narrowed his eyes in a mock glare. "Oh you think so, do you? You forget, duck, I taught you all your moves. You'd better watch yourself out there." To emphasize the point, Derek tossed part of his orange peel at her playfully. It was going to kind of weird seeing Anya out on the pitch for real, beating for the other side. They'd played together plenty of times for fun but this was going to be interesting.
"You think Darin'll hold it against me if I hit him with a bludger?" Derek speculated. "I kind of think our first official game against each other warrants a good whack."

"Wellll...." Anya giggled lightly trying to thing of a way to beat him but giving up since he had basically helped her make the team. "We'll see I guess."
"I'd do it but I'm on the same team as him..playing with your brother gets bloody annoying sometimes.." Anya had started hearing the rumors of course, from everyone but her big brother, that he was dating Camilla. "I think he might need a good somethin' to the head."

"Ooh, I don't suppose I could pay you to sabotage him?" Derek suggested with a grin. He was joking, of course. Derek didn't actually expect Anya to turn sides on her own house. Were it just for fun though? He totally could have gotten her to flip on Darin.
"I'll never tell him you left the opening on purpose," he added solemnly.

Anya made a face that was pretty indisinguishable...because she did love her brothers but they were getting on her sodding nerves. But before she could give in she realized that her team needed this win to beat Slytherin for the cup.
"Oi! No Tempting! You're evil!!" She said it all with a smile on her face though, basically just happy to have Derek around.

Derek laughed. Evil? "Hardly," he protested over a glass of pumpkin juice. "You can't blame me for wanting one win, now can you? You lot had one. Time to share." Not that Derek wanted a hand out really. Well, at this point he might just take a win any way he could get it but winning for real would probably be more satisfying.
"Anyway, enough Quidditch. If Rosy or Mads catch us talking..." he faded off dramatically. Derek smiled and ate some of his orange. "How're things going lately? Taylor and Darin haven't killed J.J. yet have they?"

Rolling her eyes at the mention of her brothers, and slightly tightening her lips, Anya looked away and reached for a glass of pumpkin juice instead to try and figure out how to answer that all.
After taking a sip she looked over at Derek and gave a shrug, "Not yet. But they better not. Those two need to just... ughh." She gave a frustrated sigh and a slight hand movement to go with it.

Derek gave her a look that tried to be sympathetic. "They're just trying to look out for you," he reminded. "Can't fault them for that." Personally, Derek found the whole thing amusing, but then he wasn't the one stuck having friends chased off because of protective older brothers.
"I'd be doing the same thing if they didn't have you covered already."

"you would not.. you better not!" Anya pushed him in the shoulder lightly with a small guffah hiding her smile. "I can fault them. It's completely faultable. You don't see me going up and making them stop hanging out with their friend do you?" like Hannah.
She bit her lip and wondered about the meeting again, what were their reaction be to her being there..she was pretty sure that they would be there.

"It's not the hanging out that they mind," Derek said, his tone stating very clearly that she knew exactly what he was talking about. The twins probably took their job a little too seriously, but Derek understood the principle behind it. In any case, they'd had this discussion too many times to count and Derek let it fade off.
"Anything else going on with you? Seems like I haven't talked to you in awhile." Actually, he supposed they'd talked last week. No, the week before. Merlin, things were blurring together.
