Taylor made his way down, having been held up in the corridor by a good discussion between him and a fourth year on the best use of a dungbomb. Obvious, it was having them explode in pockets of unsuspecting occupants. The fourth year attempted to argue that bombing a bathroom was best. Obviously a little bit of an amateur still. Taylor had rolled his eyes and dismissed the boy and ended up following Darin in later.

He passed Anya and JJ having a good ol' time at the puff table and eyed them with suspicion, before locating Darin and Derek at the Claw table. "Oi," he said as he shoved his way in beside Darin, "What's up with the JJ kid being all buddy buddy over there?" he asked Darin. He was aware that Derek was still looking rather put-out, which he understood. He was incredibly glad to see him out and about and eating food with the rest of his friends. "Mate," he said in greeting and then frowned at the plate in front of Derek. He plopped a few more spoon fulls of baked beans onto his plate and then went about eating his own food, as if this happened everyday.

Derek didn't want to talk about it. Well, Darin could understand that. He'd had to ask though, hadn't he? He'd actually felt pretty horrible about himself after finding out about it all post-Quidditch game, especially since Derek's mum had picked him up and there was nothing Darin could do then but sit and wait for his mate to come back. Now that the asking was out of the way and the bloke knew he was here for him and all of that, Darin could go on being normal and trying to keep his mind off of it.

"I know, right?" he exchanged a look with Taylor and cast another gaze back at J.J., yelling at him when it became apparent the boy hadn't gotten the hint the first time. "What's he think he's playing at?"

Derek was infinitely grateful that Darin left it alone and didn't even mind when Taylor added food to his plate. He gave Taylor a look of course, but he didn't mind. As for whatever was going on with Anya, Derek didn't really pay much attention except apparently J.J. was hitting on her or something. When the twins weren't around, Derek was as protective of their sister as either of them but when it came to boys and the twins freaking out, it was far more fun for Derek to sit back and watch them flip.

"So...how've you two been?"

"Good," Taylor said with a definite nod, stuffing beans into his mouth accompanied by a roll, "two monsssh aneversssary disss fri'ay," Taylor said around the food. He swallowed a bunch and glowered at JJ, "Hands off her," he growled. Was it just them or were they sitting a little too close. "He'll lose his hands if he doesn't Step off," Taylor said and sat up half way, "OI!" Taylor said over the heads of the people in front of him, "Watch your hands JJ," he yelled. He wasn't even sure the good-for-nothing was paying attention to him, which, if he was smart, he would be.

"May need to teach him a lesson at some point," Taylor mentioned to Darin before sitting back down.

"May?" Darin asked as though scandalized. "I don't care if the little prat did catch the snitch in record time he doesn't STOP THAT RIGHT NOW," he said clearly for J.J. to hear, "and he's going to be missing a limb." Seriously, how hard was it to take a hint and keep your hands to yourself? You just didn't go after a bloke's sisters; not if you wanted to live very long.

Darin did his best to look away from Anya and what she was letting happen and tried to answer Derek's question. "Oh, you know. We won, if you didn't hear. Pretty brilliantly actually." Of course this brought Darin back to J.J. and he couldn't help but glance over and glare again.

Derek hadn't remembered it was Taylor and Anora's anniversary coming up (possibly because he was learning not to keep track of these things) and it cheered him up a bit to hear it. It was good to hear they were doing good, never mind that Derek would never have pictured Taylor as the type to have- much less mark- monthly anniversaries. As for himself, Derek hadn't mentally acknowledged that he and Hannah had passed another date. He knew it had been in there, knew the exact day of course, but as they were past the point of expecting anything special to happen (never mind something non-tragic) he'd kind of glazed over the details in his head and things had thankfully gone unconnected.

After another bought of yelling at J.J. (and Derek could admit that the boy and Anya were putting on a bit of a scene after all) Darin mentioned Quidditch and part of Derek's mind kicked in a little more earnestly. "I'd heard something about it, yeah." Actually, now that he thought about it all Hannah had said was that the score was a billion to one, which had probably been an exaggeration if not completely made up so it was good to know she at least picked the right team. "Good job there."

Taylor clenched his spoon and glared with a firey passion over at the puff table as he heard his sister giggle insanely and JJ laughing. Really, his mind hadn't been swayed by the talk of Quidditch since he didn't follow the game and could care less. So, without further ado, Taylor got up and marched off to pull his sister away from the vile prat.

After a few warnings/threats, Taylor arrived back with Anya in tow and sat moodily back down, "Now sit down and please refrain from giggling like a bleeding harpy," he said and dug his spoon back into his beans. He ignored her glares and settled his look on the bowl in front of him, letting his sister's remarks float over his huge wall of brotherly indifference towards her pre-teen 'feelings'.

((Taylor there and back again... WITH ANYA!))

"We weren't even doing anything wrong!" Anya stared at Taylor and then at Darin but she knew she'd get no where with them. Finally she looked at Derek for any sympathy but then felt guilty after hearing about his family.

She'd shut up this time but they had another thing coming if they thought they could treat her and her friends like this. "overreacting watchdogs" she mumbled as she crossed her arms.

But there was Derek so she couldn't be to upset. "Hey..how's...everything.."

Darin nodded, about to launch into a whole retelling of the game, because Derek would at least would appreciate it even if his twin didn't, but then things were picking up and Taylor had to run and retrieve Anya. Darin gave their wayward sister a very disappointed look as Taylor marched her back and told her to sit. "I could've sworn we taught you better than that, didn't we?" He paused here to look at Taylor for support only briefly before shaking a fork at his sister meaningfully. "The fact that you don't think it was wrong just shows how very wrong you are, Anya. Trust me, J.J. knew what he was doing."

He knew that Anya hated having he and Taylor always pulling her away but it was for her best interest! Darin knew what blokes wanted and no one was getting it from his Anya anytime soon; not if he had to keep her locked in her room for the rest of her school career.

Derek sympathized with Anya just a bit and gave her a faintly amused look as she sat down in a huff. When she asked how he was he nodded, well enough distracted by the twins and Anya to honestly answer, "I'm okay." Not great, but okay. That seemed like a step up.

"So what were you two doing over there anyway?" he asked teasingly.

"We did!" Taylor said for background as Darin lectured Anya. He nodded along as Darin motioned around with his fork. "He's a boy, he knows what he's doing because boys are all full of hormones. They're like a devil on our shoulder 'r somethin'. We can't help it, very powerful hormones," Taylor nodded wisely and seriously, "But fear definitely trumps them, which is why we attempt to instill fear into the heart of JJ. It's the only way to protect your innocence."

And that would have been that, if Derek hadn't said something to throw Taylor back into preaching mode.

"I'll tell you what they were doing," Taylor said, looking up and over at his sister, whom he settled with an annoyed glare, "JJ was trying to... butter up Anya, and Anya was just letting him smooth talk his way there," he went back to his beans.

"Anyway, not going to be for long. JJ is pretty much dead if he doesn't think we're to be avoided," Taylor said and looked over at Darin for some back-up.

Anya was about to speak up and answer Derek when Taylor started on..and on..and on... She not so politely hit him in the shoulder and rolled her eyes. "We are mates! We weren't doing a bloody thing but having some fun!"

There mayyyy have been a slight blush in her cheeks but honestly she was just too peeved with her brothers to even think on it that much. She turned to Derek and looked directly at him.

"We were just talking." Just in case...you know..she wanted to clear that up for Derek..in case he ever...wanted to...you know..ask her out or something. "I'll have you know that I would never date J.J. anyway."

"Very dead," Darin agreed, sharing a look with his twin. "Honestly Anya, if you care for the bloke as a friend at all, you'll do him a favor and discourage any more craziness." Darin didn't really expect that reverse psychology to work but it was worth a try. And it was true besides! Anya just needed to realize she was too young for all of this yet and listen to her older brothers.

"Talking doesn't involve touching," he added, around a bite of sandwich.
