Grinning at Maggie, Hannah helped herself to some eggs. Ahhh, nice relaxing breafasts. How wonderful. Then, a particularly angry-looking owl showed up. Mum's owl... A wave of dread almost sent Hannah's bite of eggs back up.

The owl (named Nox) dropped the letter on Hannah's plate and proceeded to peck at her toast. "Oi, leave that alone." Nox responded to that by biting her hand.

Whatever. Hannah grabbed the red and smoking letter. Oh dear.... No no no no, this was not good.

Reluctantly, she opened up the letter, only to try and shrink down as much as possible while sticking her fingers in her ears.

A booming and very angry voice magnified so that anyone in the Great Hall could hear started yelling.

HANNAH MAGALIS SALIX! YOU ARE SO LUCKY THAT YOU WEREN'T CAUGHT BEFORE THE CAREER FAIR! MESSING AROUND WITH MUGGLE CONTRAPTIONS IS NOT THE RIGHT BEHAVIOUR FOR A PREFECT! YOU'RE LUCKY YOU HAVEN'T BEEN STRIPPED OF YOUR BADGE! AND USING WEAPONS! I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU LEARNED THAT HORRID BEHAVIOUR BUT IT CERTAINLY WASN'T ME! I DO NOT NEED TO HEAR THIS AND OTHER STORIES ABOUT YOUR ANTICS AT SCHOOL. SMARTEN UP AND CONCENTRATE ON SCHOOL!

Her face was tomato red now, and Hannah didn't dare look around. Instead she kind of glanced at Maggie in a 'help me' way.

Sen was sitting on the other side of the table eating his breakfast while going over his homework again. As he raised his cup, Hannah's howler went off causing him to drop his cup spilling tea all over his essay.

The boy stared at his housemate completely ignoring the mess he had just made. He blinked several times before covering his mouth with his napkin to stifle the laughter.

Eliza's eyes widened. She was sipping coffee and immediately felt bad for her friend. Muggle contraptions? Weapons? What? She was quite confused. She wondered, too, who had sent the letter. Sounded like someone who sort of knew Hannah. Why else would you send a Howler?

She wanted to help Hannah but was unsure what to do.

Tim was enjoying a nice, quiet meal at the Ravenclaw table that morning, munching on a bowl of cereal and washing it down with a glass of milk. Only, moments later.. so much for the quiet part of his meal.

His eyes widened when he heard yelling from another end of the table; he looked down seeing Hannah with a letter in her hand. Weapons? Suddenly, Tim felt more uneasy and slid even further down the table. He didn't know whether to be more scared of the Howler or what the howler had said.

Rupert laughed obnoxiously, walking by as Hannah (oh hahaha, the deliciousness of it all!) was assaulted by her howler.

"OH ISN'T IT BRILLIANT BEING A MUGGLEBORN?" He declared both loudly and obnoxiously, "NO IDIOTIC THINGS LIKE HOWLERS!" He flashed a grin at anyone who looked at him, before walking off. Oh, it was the start of a beautiful day.

Maddox was surprised by the howler. Just as he was thinking that he was happy to be muggleborn, Rupert had to practically scream it out loud. However, he was nowhere near as loud as the howler. Thankfully, because man that things was SO LOUD! "That's right," he agreed happily as he walked up to Rupert and high-fived him.

How nice, one of the few times that he was actually happy to be muggleborn.

Dani was on her way to the Hufflepuff table that morning, hearing loud yelling coming from where Hannah was sitting. She'd passed by Rupert, just as he walked by, trying to ignore the letter -- what happened to Hannah wasn't any of her business. But she couldn't help but overhear what Rupert and Maddox had said, and nodded her head in agreement. "It is brilliant!"

Rupert not being ashamed of his heritage made her feel less insecure about her own. And with that, she headed on to the Hufflepuff table.

Of course Max knew what was going on the minute she entered the Great Hall and heard the howler go off on Hannah. She stepped quickly over to her friend and glared at Rupert, "Pipe down you bloody prick," she snapped at him and sat down opposite of Hannah with a loud thump with her books on the table.

She looked around the hall daring someone to say one more word about it. She hadn't been in a good fight lately, it'd be a good chance to maybe graze the knuckles a little.

This was obviously NOT a good time to be coming to breakfast. She let out a little yelp of surprise and nearly tripped over the seat she had been about to slip into next to Tim when the howler went on.

Unlike her boyfriend, Bri wasn't remotely scared of Hannah, because she knew she'd never hurt her. Well, probably. They were friends, so she didn't need to worry, right?

Still, loud noises so early in the morning? SCARY! She slid a little closer to Tim, eyes wide with.. something.. as she gave him a look that clearly said "what in the hell?!"

Daciana's eyes widened and she nearly choked on her bacon as she turned about to find who both who was shouting and where Hannah was in the crowded hall. Oh that must be so awful for the poor girl, to be tormented like this? She couldn't help but feel bad for her. Just think, if she'd received a Howler...oh golly, she'd die of embarrassment!

"Oh poor Hannah," she said, to no one in particular after she managed to swallow. She shook her head consolingly. The girl would never live down the the shame.

It was one of the few times, that Amorisa felt sorry for Hannah. Howlers were never a fun thing to get. What a crappy way to start off somebodys weekend. She was certainly glad her parents never sent her a Howler.

Dumbledore had been expecting the Holwer, and so unlike many of the students and staff members who jumped, he calmly continued drinking his pumpkin juice, took his napkin from his lap and placed it on the table, and glided down the aisles while Hannah sunk lower into her chair and exclamations about the benefits of being Muggleborn were heard across the the Great Hall.

Stopping briefly at Hannah, he laid his hand on her shoulder reassuring, looking at her over his half-moon glasses. "In my fourth year I got a Howler. Absolutely dreadful. I'd left trace ingrediants of gold dust in the bottom of everyone's cauldron, and the dungeons were pink for weeks." He smiled kindly, shaking his head. "I never did that again. You, I trust, will learn your lesson just as well?" He smiled again, and without waiting for a response, left the table (stealing a muffin from a poor first year on his way out) and looked back momentarily before leaving the Great Hall altogether.

Maggie had been loading her plate when the Howler went off, and the bread bun she'd picked up with the tongs landed smack dab in the middle of her orange juice and the metal tongs dropped with a clatter on the table. Hannah went bright red, and Maggie did as well, her freckles standing out more than usual.

She had many reasons to love being a Muggleborn, and in her mind she added this to the list. But then again, she also had a ridiculously overbearing mother (when she was around, mind) and so she sympathized.

She was about to talk to Hannah when Dumbledore walked past and spoke quietly to her. He at least seemed to be saying something nice? Oh god, poor Hannah. When he left, Maggie reached across the table sympathetically. "Mothers don't understand embarrassment."
