The Fair was over, his parents were gone, and Derek could finally relax. Admittedly, it hadn't been so bad having them around- not as bad as it could have been- but all the same he was glad to have Hogwarts back to himself and his parents where they belonged which was home and not asking questions about everything and observing far too much while giving him that smile that said they loved torturing him. Now that they were gone Derek could admit it had been nice to see them but he was glad to have his own space to himself again.

After Runes Derek had gone back to bed and slept, purely because he could, and now he was enjoying a second breakfast of sorts before an afternoon of Potions and Charms. Yes, best to enjoy his freedom while it lasted.

Hannah was practically skipping to the Great Hall. This morning had been quite excellent. And she was currently pretending that she didn't have double potions that afternoon. Her parents were gone today too. Her brother as well, not that she'd bothered to talk to him.

She spotted Derek and slipped into a seat next to him after a quick kiss on the cheek. "Hey you," she said happily as she started to fill her plate up.

Derek looked up and smiled. "Hey yourself." Hannah was clearly in a good mood and Derek for one was not going to complain. "Having a good morning, are we? Are you as glad to have the Hall back as I am because that," Derek emphasized as he offered food her direction, "was a long weekend."

He poured himself a glass of pumpkin juice and let a hand brush against her leg- possibly by accident but probably not- as he took a sip. Maybe things could go back to normal now.

"Yes, I really am. I'm so glad my mom is gone and home and just... away from me." Hannah spoke in an EXTREMELY relieved tone. The best part about the weekend was getting to talk to her dad, of course. "Now, hopefully things can get back to normal."

She smiled to herself when she felt his hand brush against her leg, and moved a bit closer to him while letting her foot find his and rubbing against it. "It was nice meeting your parents though," she said thoughtfully. His parents were so much more normal than hers. "And I really like your dad, he's great."

Derek chuckled. "He's something," he said vaguely. In all honestly, Derek loved his parents. Clearly, they were awesome. He didn't know too many people who had as few problem with their families as he did but that didn't mean they couldn't be a little...overwhelming. Being an only child had its downsides. Besides, his dad loved to play to a crowd and Derek was convinced the man enjoyed making him uncomfortable.

Hannah scooted closer and Derek smiled, bringing his hand to rest on her knee casually. "It did go well," he admitted. "They liked you, by the way. And your dad was pretty brill." Derek hadn't known what to expect from someone who chose to live as a Muggle but Hannah's dad was pretty cool; much better than the quick, admittedly unfair (probably), impression he'd gotten from her mum.

Hannah's stomach did a little flip-flop when he said that his parents liked her. She was a little intimidated by his mum, but other than that, it had gone well. Mostly. Definitely better than she'd expected.

"My dad really liked you too. And it really doesn't matter what my mum thinks. Obviously. I mean, she barely likes me."

She took a few bites of her food and drank some of her apple juice. "I'm just happy that we don't have to be supervised by them all the time. THAT would be horribly embarassing..."

"I'm sure she likes you," Derek insisted. "She just expects that I'm going to lead you astray or make you fail all of your OWLs," he speculated. Which, of course, wasn't the case at all. Derek didn't think it was, anyway. He wasn't a bad influence was he?

"Ugh." The thought of being constantly supervised didn't even bear thinking of and Derek withdrew his hand so he could actually eat. "That'd be about miserable, wouldn't it? And why do I suddenly have visions of running into your dad or mine on their way to brush their teeth as I'm trying to sneak off somewhere?" Not good. Although, this did remind him that in only a few more months it would be summer hols and there might be sneaking out of a different sort to be done. Interesting.

Nora came into the Great Hall, not spotting anyone she felt like sitting with at the Gryffindor Table (Max wasn't there yet,) and Taylor had apparently decided to boycott lunch or something, he'd probably either gone early or what have you. But hey! There was Hannah and Derek at the Ravenclaw Table! Awesomesauce! Apparently Nora didn't care if she was barging in on something, but she sat across from them and grinned. "Hey guys! Hope you don't mind if I seek refuge at your table, but I really didn't fancy sitting all by myself over at my own table," she pulled up a plate.

"Yeah, you'll definitely do that." Hannah rolled her eyes at the thought. "Actually, mum is quite certain that I'll ruin my own life. I think she just doesn't like anyone. Ever."

The mention of sneaking out brought a grin to Hannah's face. "Strangely, I think my dad would support sneaking out. He's rather fond of crazy antics, as long as they're done in good fun. When Nora and I were younger, he let us sneak brooms from mum and take them out." Yeah, her dad was funtimes.

And speaking of Anora, here she was! "Not at all, Nora. I was just telling Derek about how my dad used to help us sneak out on our brooms when we were younger." A grin was plastered on her face as she took a few more bites of the food.

Derek definitely liked Hannah's dad. Granted, Marshall would probably a little more concerned about his daughter sneaking around with a boy than with Anora but hey, Derek was still just happy there was someone in Hannah's family that seemed to like him.

Anora made a timely entrance and Derek grinned. It was good to have her and Taylor back together. Everything was coming back around which was a relief because for awhile there things had been just weird. Now if it could just stay this way... "Not worried about Ravenclaw retaliation anymore?" he joked. "And so you do actually fly then," Derek said, looking back at Hannah. He knew she used to like flying and Quidditch but couldn't think of one time since they'd started dating that Hannah had done anything related to either.

Anora had begun surveying the table for something good to eat. Ahh yes, her favourite lunchtime food of all time, sandwiches. So simple, yet so versatile! She kept her happy grin as she inwardly praised the gods of deli meats and lettuce and all sorts of sandwichy things as she grabbed a few and stuck them on her plate. Hey, they were small, she could eat a few if she wanted to ( ... )

Haha! The hats! That was possibly when Hannah and Anora had discovered their love of hats. Hannah laughed at those wonderful memories.

When Derek mentioned flying, Hannah just smirked. "I'm sure I fly much better than you, actually. But you know me. I'm such a good girlfriend that I wouldn't want to embarass you. Or do anything as sinister as stealing your hat. Tie maybe, but not hat." Now that Hannah thought about it, she was thinking of starting up an underground broom racing club. Hmmm, she'd have to bring that up to Nora and Max tomorrow night.

"This is true," Derek granted, taking a bite from his sandwich and nodding at Anora, "though you realize we're obliged to root against you still. Points and all. Although I suppose if Hufflepuff loses again we'll at least have them beat," he added speculatively. Damn, it would have been really nice if Ravenclaw had won last week.

Derek laughed at Hannah's comment. "Oh, is that it, then? And lucky for me I don't wear hats. I have noticed a few missing ties though," he teased. Well, technically the missing ties had reappeared the same day his pile of 'things that belonged to Hannah' had disappeared from the dorm, but Derek wasn't going to think about that. "I think I'll need some evidence of this supreme flying skill before I'll believe you," he challenged before taking a drink.
