Since Darin only had one class today, it seemed like a good time to get caught up on work- or ahead, as the case may be. He couldn't afford to fall behind this year. As his parents had reminded he and Taylor, it was time to get serious about school and this essay wasn't going to write itself. Now there would be a charm worth looking into...

Dari had a break between History and Ancient Runes class and she decided to take advantage of that by venturing into the library. There was, after all, work to be done. This weekend was Hogsmeade, which meant she wouldn't really have much time for schoolwork, and she wanted to be sure she didn't fall behind or anything.

She sat down and smiled as she looked up to see she'd managed to take a seat right next to Darin.

"Hey." She nudged him lightly, a little playfully. "What are you working on?"

Alright, so maybe she wasn't going to get any work done at this rate, but since when could Dari see a cute boy and not say hello?

Darin glanced up when he noticed someone approaching the table and promptly did a double take and grinned when he noticed it was Dari. "Hey, there gorgeous."

He smiled over as she settled in. This probably wasn't good for his getting work done but he did have most of the day free for it. Who knew? Maybe they'd actually manage to be productive. Darin could probably use some nudges in the right direction with this anyway. "Potions, actually," he answered. "Still. I'm trying to make sure I've got it down before class tomorrow so I'm not dead in the water and stuck so I have to waste the weekend on work."

A Hogsmeade weekend stuck buried under paper was a Hogsmeade thoroughly ruined, and Darin had no intention of letting something like that happen. "What about you?" he nodded. "I didn't think you had any free time with your class load," Darin said teasingly. "Not skipping are you?"

Dari grinned at his greeting. Flattery was definitely something that might work in his favor later. She nodded as she mentioned Potions. She'd already finished her essay, of course, but then she actually enjoyed the class.

She laughed at his comment regarding her schedule. "I only have eight classes," she countered, pulling a look of mock offense. "Anyway, I have a break between History and Runes, so I thought I'd get a bit of work done. Don't want to let homework distract me fro Hogsmeade this weekend, you know."

She grinned again as she pulled out her History homework. Speaking of essays...

"I could help you with the Potions essay," she offered. "I mean, if you want."

"Only eight," Darin repeated sarcastically. He shook his head. Darin had his hands quite full enough with five.

"Well, I don't want to keep you from your work," he insisted. "You already helped me out a lot last week. I should probably sort the rest out on my own." Doing his work by himself sounded a lot less interesting with Dari perched next to him though and Darin didn't exactly turn right back to it and let her get on with her thing. He glanced over his parchment and twirled his quill before glancing back up. "I might have you read over it and make sure it's okay. Make sure I'm not making any glaring errors Mac's going to nail me for."

Dari didn't mind the teasing and she grinned again, waving off his comments about not keeping her. She really didn't mind and, besides, working with Darin would certainly be more fun than studying alone.

She smiled and nodded. "I can do that. Definitely." And she couldn't help leaning over a little to glance at his paper and see what he'd done so far. Yeah, that History of Magic homework might not get done this way and she might just forget to go to Runes if she got too distracted, but she just couldn't help herself.

"Good then." Darin nodded again and turned casually back to his work. He was halfway done and feeling pretty good about it; even if he didn't want to work on it now. Dari had crept closer though and he caught the distinct smell of girl. It was a little distracting.

Darin glanced over. "You're not working," he observed with a smirk. "Hogsmeade, remember? Sacrifice now so that the weekend might be a glorious something or other."

His eyes drifted slowly over her face to settle on her lips for a moment before Darin made himself catch her eye and flash a winning smile. "You smell nice today."

Darin seemed to be making nice progress on his paper and Dari couldn't help giving him a bit of an impressed smirk, which only grew as he looked at her with that expression and reminded her of Hogsmeade. She certainly did hope to have a glorious weekend, but she was also hoping for an entertaining right now.

"Oh, don't you worry about me," she grinned and tucked a bit of hair behind her ear. "I intend to have a glorious something or other." She smirked again and raised an eyebrow at his comment.

"Do I then?" she asked innocently, pretending to turn her focus to her History of Magic textbook which lay open in front of her.

Darin's smirk grew and he turned in his seat a bit to face her. His paper? Oh, that was completely forgotten for the moment. "You do," he confirmed, managing to bring his expression as close to serious as it was going to get- which wasn't very. "How do girls do that? It's got to be a potion they pull you aside and teach you from infancy or something, right?"

Dari bit her lip in that way she often did when she was trying to be cute, though she nearly laughed at his almost serious expression.

"Mmm.. that would be telling," she replied coyly, twisting a strand of hair idly around her finger.

"It would," Darin agreed, his lip quirking up toward a smile. "I suppose you're not allowed to divulge trade secrets. Crazy lot, you girls." Then again, Darin supposed if girls actually came out and said what they wanted all the time like normal people, it would take some of the fun out of things. Mystery wasn't all bad.

"How's the homework going?"

Dari turned slightly and leaned forward, letting her chin rest in her hand and shifting just barely closer.

"Oh, I think I'm making progress," she replied, smirking slightly. She wasn't exactly referring to schoolwork, of course, but that had been quite forgotten. This was much more fun.

Dari's shift closer didn't escape Darin's notice and he rested his own head in his hand. "Mmm. Looks like it."

He leaned in slowly and met her lips for questioning snog.

It vaguely occured to Dari that they were in a library and could just maybe get in trouble for what they were doing right now, but she wasn't enough concerned, of course, to not do it.

Her lips curved upward in a smiled as she returned the kiss. This, she decided, was just what she was meant to be doing with her morning. Essay? What essay?
