1. Who sleeps in bed next to you? My sister's cat, who is currently staying with me.
2. Have you ever fancied a cartoon? A cartoon? I don't think so. A comic book character? The first one I remember fancying was a minor Star Wars comic book character from the 80s called Splinter.
3. What are you reading right now? Nothing, really, other than back issues of magazines that I intend to throw out.
4. What's your occupation? Computer programmer.
5. What do you hate right now? My insomnia.
6. Who is your celebrity crush? Mmm ... probably David Tennant. Big surprise, I know.
7. What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction? DW is my only fandom at the moment. I am, however, getting very interested in clothes and shoes, far more than usual. This may be because I've lost some weight and it's fun.
8. What are you listening to right now? Various electric hums -- the PC, the 'fridge, all the neighboring air conditioners.
9. What food could you eat every day for weeks and not get sick of? Ice cream.
10. What websites do you always visit when you go online? Well, in the course of the average day, I'll go to Google News, Salon, and LJ. There are lots of other sites I visit, just not every day.
11. What are you going to do next year? Hopefully publish at least one technical article.
12. What was the cutest thing you've seen today? Guest Cat lolling on her back with her feet in the air, and the way she jumped to her feet when she saw me, as if I'd caught her doing something embarrassing.
13. Does the weather affect your mood? Sometimes. I hate those winter days when the sky and ground seem to be the same color.
14. What is your favourite type of cheese? I don't snack on it, but I'm very fond of small amounts of gorgonzola. I also like Cabot's 50%-less- fat cheddar. It makes good sandwiches.
15. Do you want to learn another language? Yes! French is the only non-English language I know even passably. But I go by a place that advertises language lessons and translation services for a variety of languages, including Polish, and I've very tempted.
16. 5 things you can't live without. The Internet, a place to go on weekdays (a.k.a my job), diet soda, my journal, and a cat in the house.
17. If you could meet anyone now, who would you meet? Barack Obama. So I could tell people when I'm old that I once did.
18. What's something you'd like to say to someone right now? I'm waiting on a reply to an email from an old friend, so I'd say, "Write me back!"
19. What are you looking forward to? Going to Boston in August and hopefully meeting EGT while I'm there!
20. What did you dream last night? Nothing last night. But last week I dreamed that I woke up in a sleeping bag on a carpet in a place I didn't recognize. A man with blue skin came and got me and took me past several other blue-skinned people in dressing-gowns having tea, out a door, to a Bruegelian or Boschian vista of purple earth, busy blue people, and tattered and trampled symbolic objects. (I remember seeing an American flag on the ground.) I was given to understand that these were the foothills, so to speak, of the afterlife. I was ushered over to a desk, a cheap laminate wood-grain desk, out in the middle of the open, and heard somebody say something about "crystal bridge".
Well, if this is the afterlife, I thought, this isn't too bad. I asked the person shuffling papers on the other side of the desk, "Do I have to cross a Crystal Bridge or a Rainbow Bridge or something?" They looked through their papers, made an intrigued sound, looked up at me, and said, "Actually, n--"
-- and I woke up.
