Insomnia is best treated with a healthy disregard for its importance.
How do you do that? Try to be productive, since you're up anyway? I'm afraid if I do that I'll keep working past the point where I could have slept if I'd gone back to bed.
I find that a lot of my insomnia can be attributed to one of two things: stress or shift work.
Since fretting about not sleeping just makes me stressed and I can't do anything about the shift work, I've reached the conclusion that there's nothing I can do to make myself sleep. Strangely, that very acceptance often helps me drift off ;)

The internet tells me I have a sleeping disorder. (Although it's only 12:45 here - 2:20? Eek).
