Interview
kalleah offered to interview anybody, and I took her up on it. Here are the terms:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better! If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate.
3. Please update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Please include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.

Here are the questions:
1. What accomplishment in the past 5 years are you proudest of?
This is embarrassingly hard to answer, as my successes since 2002 all seem kind of petty. The things I'm really proud of are all in the more distant past. Probably it would be that I gathered the courage to read one of my pieces at a one-day writers' workshop, and had it enthusiastically received.
2. Rolling Stones or Beatles?
Beatles. It may be a question of early exposure. I'm pretty sure Yellow Submarine was the first movie I was ever taken to, which explains a great deal, really.
3. What's the last book you've read, and would you recommend it to someone else?
Hmm. I'll pick the one I'm on, which is Against Love: A Polemic by Laura Kipnis. It mounts a not-entirely-serious argument against the pieties and conventions of romantic love in this society. It makes for entertaining reading, so, yes, I'd recommend it.
4. I'll reuse one of
ivydoor's questions to me. What's your favorite Doctor Who episode? (2-parters can count as one).
I think it would be The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. I have a big soft spot for Nine, probably because Ten reminds me too much of the type of boy who always broke my heart. His happiness in the bombsite scene -- it's beautiful and redeeming and entirely a moment of grace.
5. If you had to put three items in a time capsule to represent our current world culture, what would they be?
An automatic rifle.
A conterfeited DVD of some very expensive and bad Hollywood movie
A well-worn and much venerated holy book, your choice.
