Of all of the things that Jack did for the ministry that were not his job, this was definitely not even remotely close. Going to Diagon Alley to a blasted greenhouse to drop off some papers and pick up samples of Fanged Geraniums for the bloody International Magical Trading Standards Body was not in his job description. He was beginning to tire of this. He'd been at the ministry over a year and still he was nothing more than a glorified messenger pigeon. And now just about every department was bouncing him back and forth using him for any menial task they were too busy to do themmselves ( ... )

Addie adored working at the greenhouse. Alton tended to leave her alone for the most part since he was usually to busy with his own work to watch over her all the time. Currently he had her working the front of the greenhouse...dealing with customers (something she never really cared for.)

Right now she was proving this point by ignoring the door's bell and continuing to prune a flutterby bush. Obviously if the person really NEEDED something they'd ask; otherwise why bother?

Jack glanced around the greenhouse. There was no one around to greet him so he stood awkwardly for a few moments, wondering if he should make his way through the rows upon rows of plants. The greenhouse didn't look that big from the outside... but in here it was huge. Decisively he took off down a row, spotting a person immediately by a large flutterby bush.

Actually... that person looked kind of familiar... yes, he definitely recognized that blond hair... in fact, he could vividly recall what that hair felt like between his fingers as his lips were pressed firmly against the lips that he new were on that face that wasn't looking at him...

Of course now would be a hell of a time to be mistaken, as he tip toed up and slipped his arm around the young woman's waist from behind. "Surprise."

There were two completely normal and completely in character responses for Addie to choose from when she felt a man's arm find their way around her. The first would be to elbow the guy in the gut and the second was to turn around and kiss them. Both were instinctual and the response usually only varied due to her own mood.

Today Addie was in a decent mood, since the shop side had been particularly customerless, and with a words like 'surprise' it made her playful. She didn't know who it was but she didn't much care as she turned kissed the mystery man with her eyes closed.

Jack typically went on auto pilot in situations like this, and today was no different. His lips quirked for a second into a small grin, and then he kissed back, tenderly and not too invasive. Yup. This was definitely Addie. It felt like her. It tasted like her. And he found himself wondering, while he worked to maintain a grip on the papers in his hand rather than dropping them and wrapping that arm around her too, why he hadn't taken the time to give her a call like he'd always meant to.

Addie purred a bit as he returned the kiss. She still didn't recognize who the person was besides knowing that she'd kissed this particular one before. It was completely possible that she would have continued kissing him if it hadn't been for the fact that she was still holding the pruning shears in her hand and didn't want to accidentally kill the poor guy.

Finally she pulled away and let her eyes focus on the face "Jack." She stated simply with a smile that grew a bit wider as she recognized the Martin boy from Hogwarts. "How's it going stranger?"

"Well it was going quite miserably," he said calmly, rubbing his chin absently and smirking, "But I'd say my day's looking up considerably." He took that moment to glance around the greenhouse again. "I had no idea you worked here..." and then his eyes fell on Addie herself and his gaze softened slightly, brown eyes warm "..and my god, you've gotten even more attractive."

"I see I see.." Addie nodded and finally set down the shears next to the flutterby bush.

"Yeah well.." She started to say about the greenhouse but was cut off by his compliment. Something about blatant compliments never really sat well with Addie and so her cheeks blushed slightly but she moved on quickly. "It's been a while... So what brings you here anyway?"

They were still intimately close and Addie made no move to pull away but it did fuel her temptation to skip any and all talking. After all she was a girl of pure impulse and instinct.

"Oh, er, right, business of some sort," Jack muttered, making the move to be the first one to take a step back, creating a bit more space between them. "Well is mister..." He looked at the papers in his hand "...Brown here? Cuz I'm supposed to give him these?" He vaguely waved the stack of papers, each of which bore the familiar seal of the ministry.

His less than enthusiastic reply made the smile drop slightly from her lips. Apparently she shouldn't ask about... whatever it was. Work? She saw the seal and sighed on instinct. "Oh he's back there somewhere," She replied with a dismissive wave of her hand.

"Don't see the rush though..means you'll probably just disappear out of my life again once you're done." There was a quick pout to get the point across and then her signature smirk.

Jack frowned slightly. Ouch. "Yeah... well you grew up, didn't you? Can't imagine that you wanted much to do with a schoolboy like me after you graduated. And then, well, this past year's just been so busy and everything, you know, Ministry's had a lot to deal with, and, well, I meant to call you..." He stopped himself. He was rambling. Somehow Addie had the ability to take him back to being a 13 year old boy with a crush if he wasn't careful.

"I'll try not to Vanish again. I can imagine how terrible your life must have been without me. Wouldn't want to put you though that again." He smirked, eyes sparkling. "And these papers just need to get to him, oh, sometime. There is something you can help me with though."

The roll of her eyes was done without hesitation or thought as he emphasized how terrible her life must be without him. although she had to admit (to herself only, of course) that having a person that she could verbally spar with had been missed.

She was about to take the papers from him when he said there was something she could do for him. Immediately her hand dropped and the left side of her lips quirked. "Oh is there? What could I possibly help you with." With the statement she looked him over.

He hadn't changed to much but he did look more like a man now and less like a teenager. A year could change a lot of things. "Your vines need tending?"

Jack couldn't help but grin. Addie certainly had a way with words. "Aaacctually," He began, "My vines are fairly well tended, but thanks for the offer. Is that a longstanding offer? Because one never knows when one's vines might get out of hand and might need some firm care..." He'd sort of lost the topic now.

She nearly laughed at his rambling over her very obvious metaphor. Yep, Jack tended to be very amusing when he rambled and got all tangled up.

"Oh really... well then. What is this favor you need then. If it's not tending...." She smiled wickedly and watched as another customer came in. She obviously ignored them and kept her attention with Jack.

Jack glanced around suspiciously, even looking in the direction of the new arrival in the greenhouse and waiting until he was sure they were out of ear shot. Putting on his best look of mock sincerity he leaned in very close and whispered.

"Fanged Geraniums," he said very seriously. "Two plants, male and female if you've got them. Very serious ministry business, very top secret."

Addie quirked her eyebrow at the request. "Why..." Addie shrugged in a dismissive look. It was best not to question if it was top secret.

"Ookayy then..." She bit her lip and looked around. "I guess I'll get rid of this guy first before I go get Alton for you.. Sad. Here I thought the request was going to be interesting." She kissed Jack quickly on the cheek as she moved passed him to help the customer that was staring at the herbs section.

The customers tended to always be so clueless and annoying that Addie narrowed down quickly exactly what they wanted and got rid of them quickly before they could think of something else to pester her with.
