The Slow And Subtle Seduction Of Merlin Emrys By Arthur Pendragon

Step One
Arthur clears his throat, and carefully puts on his low, slightly growly voice. "Merlin," he says, "I have a very important task for you."
"Anything you desire," says Merlin, with only a hint of sarcasm.
"That's what I like to hear." Arthur chuckles as darkly as he can manage, and waits, briefly, for Merlin to look confused or affronted or embarrassed.
"Well, go on," says Merlin, brightly.
Fine, maybe he's slow on the uptake, but Arthur continues undeterred. "I need you to polish my sword," he intones, letting his tongue linger lovingly on each syllable.
"Oh," says Merlin. "The big one?"
Oh, thank god, he's getting there. "The big one," affirms Arthur, and licks his lips for good measure.
"Righto," says Merlin, nods his head in a rather feeble imitation of a bow, and heads for the door.
"No - no, Merlin, you're not following me. I need this now."
"And I'm going, aren't I! See you later."
"You don't understand," Arthur tries, a little desperately. "I need you to polish my big sword."
Merlin waves cheerily as he closes the door behind him.
Step Two
"Oh!" cries Arthur, for all the world as if Merlin has burst in at the most inopportune moment possible, and not at all as if he's been leaning on the bed in this slightly awkward position for the last ten minutes. "Good god, Merlin, what have I said about knocking?"
"Um," says Merlin, and turns his face abruptly to the opposite wall. "I, er, I'm very sorry. Tell me when you've got some clothes on and I'll look again. And," he continues, tentatively, "I did knock, honestly, quite a few times, but there was no answer, so I thought I'd just better come in."
"You obviously didn't knock loud enough," Arthur tells him. (He knocks ridiculously loudly, in fact, and in a variety of rhythms that Arthur had had to endure for about a minute until Merlin had finally let himself in.)
Merlin is still staring dutifully at the wall.
"I can't be expected to dress myself," says Arthur. "What do you think I employ you for?"
"Oh, right!" says Merlin. "Sorry. To clean your sword and stuff, I thought."
"If only."
"What?" Merlin busies himself, gathering up the clothes strewn across Arthur's floor.
"Nothing," sighs Arthur.
Step Three
Arthur corners Merlin somewhere at the tail-end of the feast, once most of the speeches seem to be over and everyone else is drunk enough not to notice - or at least not to care about - the crown prince bodily dragging his manservant out into the corridor.
"Look, Merlin," he says, exasperatedly, "I can't be bothered with this any more."
"You want to go back to your chambers?"
"Yes!" says Arthur, delightedly.
"I'll go and get the kindling for the fire, then. Do you want me to make up the bed? I forgot to do it this morning, and it seems a bit pointless now."
"No," says Arthur, his face dropping. "No, I don't mean - I don't want to go away from the feast. Well, I do. I mean - " Arthur takes a deep breath. "Merlin," he says, with gravitas, "I want you."
Merlin's head is cocked, expectantly, as if expecting a further part of Arthur's sentence to appear. When it doesn't, he glances around him briefly in confusion, and then bobs on the balls of his feet, and gives Arthur a quick smile. "And here I am. Hello."
Arthur almost moans in frustration. "How clear do I have to make this? I want you, Merlin, I need you, I crave you in every way."
"Wow," says Merlin, looking a little taken aback, but chuffed nonetheless. "I thought you just saw me as an idiot. I'm glad this manservant thing's all worked out in the end." He pauses, rocks his head from side to side a little in thought. "'Crave' seems a bit strong. But I suppose it's important that we really feel that we need each other in our lives. Solid master-servant bonds, and all that."
"Oh, for Christ's sake," says Arthur, and kisses him.
Step Four
Once Arthur lets go of him and gives him a moment to breathe, Merlin looks back at him in wonder, and shakes his head. "Why didn't you say?"
Arthur opens his mouth, thinks better of it, and settles for kicking him very hard in the shin.

I've never participated in a kink meme before so I don't know all the rules, but is there any rule against crossposting the fulfillments to your own journal/various communities? Because I think the whole fandom deserves to see this one. ;) <3
