Firstly. i think I should really explain so there's no hard feeling. I really like you sensitivity in this topic, it hard to find a considerate man. Arthur really hurt Merlin and while merlin hate it I don't think he could really hate Arthur that is why he doesn't react more violently. he possibly has strong feeling for Arthur(maybe platonical or romantic though i don't think he would ever see Arthur the same way again after this). Maybe it is just because are too kind and can't really hate anyone or he is feeling too hurt and helpless.

secondly, I do ynderstand what rape do to people. Well not really since i am not a victim but i understand that it is really traumatizing and painful. As a girl, a violent hatter(I hate real life violent. Fanfic violent is kinda fine) and a muslim I don't take rape easily. In our religion people who rape other should be punish in public. 80 lashes for single man or woman and stone to death for the married man and woman. It is consider a really great sin and while many people think this punishment is too violent I think it is really justified.
