Still here!!!

Hey all!!

Wow, it's a been more than a while, hasn't it? ;)
Let's do it month by month.............. :P

April: Went to the circus together with my hostfamily, something that I haven't done for a long time.....
I think I was probably 10 or so last time I went to a circus. It was alot of fun, ate some cotton candy to top it all of. ;)

Later on in april me and three friends up to Lancaster county in Pennsylvania to see the Amish people, it was a cool and different experience.
All the typicall stereo types I had about the amish was totally shattered. :)
Only bad thing was when we were on our way back was that we ended up in a big thunderstorm/rain storm. I had to drive 25-30 miles an hour, on a road where the speedlimit was 65. Alot of people had the hazard lights on, it was SOOO scary!! It lasted for about twenty minutes before it finally let up.

Baseball season also started, a sport that isn't my favourite, but my hostkids started playing it. So for me it was mandatory to go to at least a game a week.

May: Hmmm..... not super much happend. Two of my friends left to go home, since their year was up. :(
Not the most fun thing, but at least I know that both are planning to come and visit me in Sweden when they will have the time to do so.

The book Dead in the family was released, I LOVED IT!!!! :) Finished it in one week.

Memorial day weekend me and a swedish friend went down to Virginia Beach, it was great weather and we also met up with some other friends for a nice dinner. :) As we were going back to Northern Virginia I discovered that I had gotten a really really really bad sunburn. *Ouch*

June:
Went to Annapolis with my friends Anne-marie, Elaine, Jim, Jenny and Katharina. :) Such a beautiful and cozy city.
We basically just walked around and looked at the surroundings. We all had lunch together, the food was good, but the service was HORRIBLE! The waitress was so bad.... I think we all combined just gave her 2 dollars in tip.

Later on that same night my au-pair cluster had an 80s party. It was alot of fun seeing all the different outfits that people showed up in!
One of my friends showed up in her hostmoms promdress! :P I got an award from my hostfamily: most likely to be led astray by a gps.
Something that is VERY true. ;)

Later on in June I went together with my new friend Tiffany and a guy named Michael to the Celebrate Fairfax festival. It was alot of fun and Tiffany is such a wonderful person.

The very next day I went together with Lia, Katharina, Anne-marie and Tanja went to Philadelphia. It was such a great city, sooo cool surroundings and very relaxing. We saw the Liberty Bell and the Independence Hall. We walked to south st, had philly cheesesteak of course. ;) We went to the love sign at John F Kennedy plaza, dipped our feet in a beautiful fountain. :)

My youngest hostkid turned 6 on the 28th. We had a huge birthday party, I think it was at least 12 kids invited.
I got him How to train your dragon swimtrunks, a starwars beach towel and candy. He was very happy.

July:
Went to a smaller hostparty,,,,,,, :P It was at my friend Anne-marie's house. We had alot of fun!!!
We didn't go to bed until 5 in the morning. We all slept for about 4 hours before we went to DC to celebrate the 4th of july.
But we didn't do supermuch, basically just relaxed on the national mall and waited for the fireworks to start.

Most recently I went to Chicago! I went there together with my friend Jenny. I finally got to see my relatives that I hadn't seen for TEN years!
Me and my friend stayed at their house for the entire visit. We were there from the 15th to the 18th.
We hit the ground running so to speak. On the thursday we walked ALOT! We walked from Union station to the millenium park and saw the bean.We continued walking to the Navy Pier where we had a great dinner, so yummy ;)
When we got back to my relatives house I discovered that I had one blister on each feet. *ouch*

On the friday me, my friend and my relative went to the swedish-american museum. It was very cool, because the area we were in was were the swedish immigrants lived in Chicago back in the day.
We had a nice lunch at a swedish restaurant(!) and after that my relative drove us around in almost all of Chicago, so we got to see even more.

On our last day, we went really early in to Chicago and the first thing we did was to go up in Sears Tower, or Willis Tower as it's called now.
It was such a beautiful view, we could see to several states! We even went out on the bump-outs, I almost felt dizzy.... *hehe*
Later on we walked to Michigan Avenue and Wacker to try and catch a glimpse of Transformers 3 being filmed!! As soon as we got there we hear: "Action!".... That made the movie geek in me come out! :P
Unfortunately we didn't get to see much, just a teeny bit. The only people they let walk by the set was people who either worked there or lived at the hotel. As we were talking to one of the people guarding on of the stairs up to the set, another guy came down and said: "Mr Bay is shooting in alot of different angles now, so no one can be let upstairs" :) :) :)

We also looked at the beautiful draw bridges. We later on had the famous chicago style stuffed pizza at Giordano's, we got full after just one slice! *haha*

I still have alot to look forward to, in august I'm going to Cape Cod as I have told you guys before. And also the month after that my best friend Anna is going to come and visit me, something that I'm looking forward to SOOOOOO much!!!

Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the summer!

chicago, au-pair, friends, life
