Supernatural: The Animation

I've just finished watching this series on DVD, and I have to really recommend it, above the recent seasons of the live action show. I must warn you that the guest stars have a tendency towards melodrama and with Japanese-to-English translation there's always a certain amount of Captain Obvious dialogue, yet it's something every classic Supernatural fan should see. Although it's definitely an alternate continuity, it captures the essence of what made Seasons 1 and 2 good. No self-parody. Actual horror and suspense, moments of fun, characters being themselves, and emotion you care about. John is more of a responsible authority figure than an arsehole and the brothers don't do that annoying keeping-secrets and pent-up feelings thing. I especially like that Missouri is in 4 episodes. And the music is excellent. If you watch it, you have to bear in mind that there's a short scene at the end of each episode after the credits finish. At first, these are throwaway scenes, but as the series goes on they get more and more important.
