I've had one of the nicest weekends I remember in a while.
Elliott broke up with his girlfriend and came over for some comfort on friday night. He ended up staying over and we talked a lot. Saturday morning Chris' two best friends from home, Patrick and Josh came down to visit. They had a Samuel L. Jackson movie marathon. We got sandwiches with them, saw part of Shaft and then Audrey and I went into Boston for some shopping. I got girly reefs and paddles for the pool for $22 because they were discounted in the first place and there was a 20% back to school doscount for students. I got a new wool skirt that is very professional looking and some undies for my brother at mom's request. I really hate going clothes shopping- if I manage to get something on and buttoned it never ends up looking right. I'm still waiting for the waists to come up as I was promised about a year ago. This low rise stuff really looks horrible on me.
We tried to find shoes for Audrey because all the "nice shoes" she has belong on What Not to Wear. Seriously, I've considered throwing them in the trash. We went to DSW but Audrey made a face at everything I showed her. She flat out rejected slingbacks and kitten heels. She just wants something simple, black, covered toes with a wide heel that isn't too tall. I showed her at least 8 different pairs in that category but no dice. We had a poke around at the gap and then headed home. We hung out with Josh, Chris and Patrick some more just having a great time and drinking a bit. Eventually we headed over to the ZBT suite in Ridgewood (the ocho) for some more drinking. Everyone save me and Patrick played franziapong against eachother while Pat and I talked. Then I got pretty smashed. At one point I had three drinks, I had to hold one between my knees. I probably had more than I should have on an empty stomach. I got a little out of control and I found everything funny. For those who haven't seen me inebriated, my body tends to go a little numb, particularly my face, knees and elbows. So everyone, Josh in particular felt the need to poke me in the face. At some point (before I was really drunk) Elliott put on a bootleg of snakes on a plane that he had downloaded. I literally have no idea what happened in the movie. And he turned it off half way through becausee we were being too loud. Somehow, through the course of the night, my ID card and my glasses managed to go missing. The glasses were discovered unharmed the next evening. Eventually we all went home and magically were all pretty much sober by the time we got back. Chris passed out right away, Audrey, Patrick, Josh and I stood around talking for a while longer.
Sunday morning I went with the boys plus Patrick's cousin, Sarah who also goes to Brandeis to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Brandeis students get in for me but I had lost my ID the night before so I was worried that I would have to pay. Luckily there were no questions asked and she took me on faith that Patrick is also a Brandeis student so i got him a free ticket too. We walked around and looked at the paintings and sculptures which were interesting. Art doesn't really do it for me, but every once in a while I come across something that really evokes a response. We had mexican food and then Josh tried to call in sick at work so that they could stay and hang out longer. That backfired becaues he wasn't able to get anyone to cover for him. Then Patrick came right back because he realized that he had forgotten his wallet on Chris' desk and we all went out for Chinnese food. Chris spoke to the woman who took our order in Chinnese which was pretty cool. Then I did a little reading, talked to Audrey and went to bed. Now I've still got A LOT of reading because I didn't get nearly enough done this weekend. But first I have to shower.
