Last night (or very early this morning), I went to my first midnight show. Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead Man's Chest was everything I hoped and so much more. The music was great, the effects were great, the movie was hilarious, and I had a hell of a time.

At about 9:00, I headed over to Palmer's. About ten people ended up meeting up at his place, and all but two were at least a little dressed up. I had my hat, knee-length black socks, boots, a skirt and shirt on, but it was a little half-assed. I had little time to work out an outfit. (I didn't know I was seeing the movie until about 6:00.)

Palmer was dressed as Sparrow, and he had bought a little dress-up kit from Walmart that had the tiny accessories like his rings and compass. It also had a press-on tattoo for Sparrow's sun-waves-and-sparrow tattoo. It was super tiny (maybe a square inch), so I just drew it on in ballpoint pen for him.

We watched a bit of the first movie before carpooling our way over to the theater, leaving at about a quarter to eleven. We spent a good fifty minutes in line, but it was fun. Saw about half the marching band there, and Cody had come with a group of home-schooled friends. Cool kids.

I won't geek over the movie. I will say that I screeched at the screen in frustation when the movie stopped. It was a pretty long movie, but it was so fantastic that I wanted more.

After the movie ended, a few friends and I stayed after to see if anything was after the credits. (There is. Nothing necessary, but still funny.) Shane showed up from a few rows behind us and said hi, so that was nice. I always cheer up when I see him (although I didn't need any cheering up after seeing Pirates).

I drove Katherine home, and that was the end to a great night. I had a great time. The night made my summer not as "worst-summer-ever."
