Woowee. Work has been pretty heavy lately but somehow I have not been disenchanted. Our store getting a brand new photo lab has not proved to be as stressful as I thought it would. After having the old lab for so long, it is this wonderful, beautiful, sleek piece of technology. I am looking forward to using it. Hah, but there is no way that something like that will lead me astray from finding a new job. There are a couple more possibilities that hold some promise. My mother works at an area hospital, and a woman from the ER--a regular customer at my store--sometimes comes in to ask about my search. It looks like there is a certain opening she heard about, and I am hoping I have a fighting chance. It would pay almost double what I make now, and...well, I hope something happens with it. Heck, I already have a couple references. Give it to me!
My friend Sally and I went to lunch on Friday at Cactus Pear. It had been a while since we had gotten together, so that was pretty nice. She has been working hard on getting her Master's in education, I believe. So it was nice that she had some time between heavy reading to come out for a few hours. I had only been there once before, but both times have been pretty great. Although I would recommend not getting the...whatever I had...something like Portabello Fajitas. It was just incredibly spicy and filling. I think I might have had enough food there for three meals. Eh!
It was nice seeing Drew once more before he went back to school in Savannah. After my thing with FedEx, I went to hang out with Montez. Along the way though I thought about swinging by Drew's and paying him back from when we saw Static-X (which was amazing, by the way...fuck). So we went up to his dad's place and shot the shit. I will never forget how elated he was when we were at Wendy's, and he saw that they finally added a #10 value meal: chicken-fucking-nuggets. Made his day right there. If I am not mistaken, we had to have been in Wendy's for almost an hour or so, talking politics, stereotypes (a favourite), and the like. Too bad I didn't have much to contribute to Drew and Montez's Chris Rock banter. Heh. Plus, I burned him my copy of Clutch's *The Elephant Riders*. Perhaps Clutch will be in Cincy during winter break. Hint, hint!
Oh, and my concert friend from the Cleveland outskirts, Leslie, randomly got in contact with me just hours before I found out that THE DIVORCE will be playing up there in October! So I shot a few myspace messages back-and-forth to her, and we'll be getting together on the 12th! It is going to be such a great time. The last time I had been up there was in January, when we saw ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead in January. I don't care that The Divorce are only playing an opening set. Hell, I never thought they would ever tour outside of Washington state nor the Pacific Northwest. They are opening for the United State of Electronica, so even if she does not dig The Divorce, perhaps she will have something else to which to dance. Ahh, I am getting butterflies just thinking about that set. Wow.
