I work for the city, Portland Parks, on the dog off-leash program. I get an assistant for the summer. Basically, we will be staffing the Parks table at various events that involve dogs and related uses (e.g. summer concerts, pet fair, etc...). Whoever it is will be spending a lot of time with me. Portland Parks & Recreation is seeking a qualified individual to educate the public at various community events about new off-leash dog rules in the Portland Parks Dog Off-leash Program. This position will interact with the public on a regular basis, responding to citizen inquiries through verbal and written communication.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience in effective communication, public relations, public involvement, and event planning skills.
Ability to remain neutral and non-confrontational in tense situations.
Some lifting of printed materials and booth assembly.
Being a team member.
Flexible schedule; must be able to work evenings and weekends, have valid driver’s license and good driving record.

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT
June 1-September 16

PAY RANGE AND WORK WEEK
$10 per hour, approximately 10-15 hours per week.
