Stop the oppression!!

I know that today is the seventh anniversary of 9/11, but this year it's been all but forgotten. This year it's the weather and Hurricane Ike. Even though the projected path has changed and we're now expected to be on the west side of it, Ike is making it's prensece lmpwm here. Today has been more than hot. It's been sweltering. It's oppressive. The heat saps all your energy and makes you slouch and shuffle. Tomorrow isn't expected to be any better. Even inside, in the air conditioning, it feels warm.

I tried to pick up some bottled water, but the store was already out. I don't expect to need it, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I did restock the cat food, so they're set.

Austin is a designated evacuation point, so we may get up to 25,000 evacuees. They've rescheduled the UT football game that was to be on Saturday, and most of the area schools are closing early tomorrow. I wonder what it would be like if the hurricane were actually coming this way? I suspect this will end up being a lot of fuss for nothing, but we shall see...
