"Oh, Buffy, I don't know, I mean, I- And, I mean, she-, and... and Watcher? Me?" I shook my head. "You're the leader." I said, nodding my head toward her. "There's nothing 'Senior' about me except for the fact that I was learning my first spells when the girls here were still in diapers." I continued to protested, though I knew it was to no avail.
To argue with Buffy Summers was to argue with a brick wall. You weren't winning, and if you tried to just put your fist through it? You weren't winning that way either.
I sighed in submission.
"Alright, I will teach the girl what I know. Which is, very little when it comes to fighting, and being, you know, violent. Also known as, a Slayer. But if that's what you need me to do, I'm in."
I smiled.
"I'll hold you to that,"
"Well, you better. Because if you don't? There might be nothing keeping me here and I might just... dissapear back to the wherever it was we were before place." I only half joked, but my heart felt heavy, knowing it was true. That I would be still dead, if they didn't need me alive.
I noticed more people in the kitchen, and couldn't help but feel out of place with them, an afraid of either Willow or Kennedy coming in here. It was too soon. I... I couldn't fact it. Them.
"You know what, Buffy? I'm going to take a raincheck on that Coke with lime. I just... I'm feeling a little tired. Really run down is more like it, a-and I think I'm going to go lie down for awhile." I said, nodding to myself. "We'll... we'll get un-jinxed later?
Reaching for her, I embraced her tightly, clinging to her closely for what felt like a few endless moments. Then quickly, as I heard voices approaching, I turned and fled the room in the opposite direction.
Though on the contrary, after my little talk with Buffy, and the way we were able to connect, I couldn't help but hope we stayed jinxed forever.
