Can someone please tell me why it always has to come down to portals. Down, through, twist, turn and that bit of nausea that always seems to accompany interdimensional travel? I thought that it was generally known that it isn't so much my favorite thing. Not that I would expect our current villianous, demonic case to understand or care about my wishes, cause that would make them most likey not demonic or villianous.
Or a current case.
So a dark alley and a Thrafkcor demon later I was spinning out of control through another portal, with the sounds of my friends shouts still ringing in my ears until sound went away all together. I wasn't even sure why it had chosed to attack me...because as ususal it was Angel, Charles and Wesley causing any real damage.
Find me. I might have send the thought out into the swirling darkness, not sure where it would really land. And then I landed, brought down with a force I had purposefully forgotten. A purpose that had taken years to perfect. It was dark, and then it was darker, and then

"As long as you promise the second one can start off different. I will make it to second date, right. I mean, no overly dialated pupils, slurring of words. And that is definitely five fingers....also nice to see they are all still there."
The gods be praised she was speaking in coherent sentences! And with an unmistakable texan twang. I grinned and checked her vitals again.
"Let me see, the pupils are definitely dilated, skin's decidedly flushed, possible fever, and the heart-rate's elevated to alarming levels, but enough about me, you on the other hand are doing just fine."
I began to help her to her feet, and it was then that I noticed that she really was quite a dish. A cross between Vivien Leigh and Audrey Hepburn. I couldn't believe my luck. Frank, I take back every mean thing I ever said about you. I take back every mean thing I ever thought about you. She seemed pretty lucid, and didn't really need me to hold her up and yet, I couldn't quite bring myself to let go of her hand

The shock of everything wearing off, somehow I wasn't surprised at all to hear myself laughing. The sound seemed to echo much farther than I intended, and I leaned in, hoping to keep whatever it was being shared between us...between us. I almost reached up to check his forhead for fever, the movement nearly over before I remembered this was a stranger.
"I hate to give you the third degree, seeing as how we're on our first date and all, but what's a nice, young, decidedly pretty girl like yourself doing in the middle of a warzone? Wejonbu is fifteen miles back that way..."Well, there was this portal, and since you have been so I nice I will try and keep my language clean when referring to the nastines of it, and then it happened again, which I was convinced the statistical odds were very much in my favor on this one. Somehow it seemed as though we were both babbling at each other, and yet not overlapping. We were speaking the same language and yet not. But what did it matter? Everything about her was fantastic, if I'd hit a landmine I couldn't be closer to heaven.
"Well, there was this portal, and since you have been so nice I will try and keep my language clean when referring to the nastines of it, and then it happened again, which I was convinced the statistical odds were very much in my favor on this one. But that teaches a gal to think two unrelated points are not a line, except it wasn't so much a line as a spinning vortex, and now I am here....in Korea?? Did you just tell me I was in Korea?"
I nodded, puzzled that she seemed shocked by that thought. Half of what she was saying was flying over my head somewhere and the other half was making me think I was back in science class. A portal? It didn't quite make sense and yet she seemed to know exactly what she was talking about. I nodded again and pretended I was keeping up with her.
