It started full force. Lights went out. Backdrop went down. Drunkship of Lanterns played and dancing began.(did it ever stop?)It was one big motion in the crowd. Cedric's voice rang through the auditorium. Jon Theodore's drumming put everyone elses to shame. The bass drum was like thunder in a jar. Omar's guitar came straight to everyone's ears like an injection to our veins. Those three are the powerhouses of the Mars Volta.
After awhile I felt I needed to step back and take in the experience by myself. When you're in the crowd you get caught up with the flow of the people and you don't get the experience of the band. So I stood in the back and watched The Mars Volta perform amazing music. I danced by myself and I didn't have to worry about other people bumping into me. I had room to move.
Sweat washed down my back. Marijuna was a staple in the air. If you watched the other people dance it was like they were possesed by voodoo. The aura of the whole place was amazing. You just can't explain all of it.
I went back into the crowd when Roullete Dares (The Haunt of) played. I danced my heart out. I made sure to pay my respects...and that I did.
You have to see The Mars Volta. You HAVE to. Do it for yourself.
