I started a sweater, Berkshire Dolman, and quite stupidly did not read the entire pattern. So, I CO the back, knit the ribbing, got very close to where I thought I should start shaping for the armscye and then, finally, read the pattern and went, "Eh ( Read more... )

I didn't realize that the Berkshire Dolman was, well, a dolman, and it didn't have regular i.e. set-in sleeves. I'd planned on making the sleeves full length, which will require me knowing how many more stitches will need to be CO to reach my wrists, not elbows. So, thought I, I don't want to waste the knitting already done. Maybe I can find another sweater using the same yarn/needle combination that has a) set-in sleeves, b)a cowl neckline (which is what attracted me to this pattern in the first place), and c) has the same amount of stitches for the back.

I did search Ravelry, but I swear my search mojo isn't very good there. I clicked aran for weight, asked for a cowl attribute for pullover sweater and got hits, but not what I was looking for. Many of the sweaters pulled up didn't have cowl necks, others had pictures showing very lightweight yarns, and many, where I could get a glimpse of the COs, wanted way less than 86 or so for the back.

I want a fairly basic sweater with a wide cowl neck. I can frog what I've knitted thus far, since I've only got about ten hours in it, but being a lazy sort, I'd like to use what I've done.
