Yulerecs 2013!
WELL. My goal of reading through all the fandoms I know in the archive before reveals has failed dismally. I read backwards, from Z-L. I have K-A still to go. Best problem ever, basically, but K-A's gonna have to wait, I've got partying to do. ANYWAY, for now, have some pre-reveal recs!

Lilo had been training for the life of a space adventurer since she met Stitch, though David once told her he’d thought she was destined for weirdness-“I mean greatness”-even before he came into their lives. “You would have found a way somehow, no matter what,” he said.
Lilo IN SPAAAAAACE. Really fun, charming, and well-characterized, with great details about being a space do-gooder, and a very satisfyng ending. Also, contains the immortal and EXTREMELY ACCURATE line "Nobody deserves Connecticut." WHERE WAS COBRA BUBBLES WHEN I NEEDED HIM.
With All Brightness
Lilo grows up. In fact, the whole family does.
A long, lovely story about growing up. Very in-character, very poignant. I may or not have had some tears (I definitely had some tears).
Much Ado About Nothing
No more than reason
Newly-wedded bliss, Beatrice and Benedick style.
Might might MIGHT be my favorite story of Yuletide. Fantastic writing, absolutely in-character, stunning banter. Sensational.
Seek Not to Alter Me
It's the big school dance, and Beatrice is utterly fed up with everyone. Worst of all, the punch isn't even alcoholic. Modern AU, high school setting, because I have no idea why this isn't a teen movie yet.
A very charming slice of a high school AU, and an interesting interaction between Don John and Beatrice. I somehow left the fic shippin it a bit. WHICH IS IMPRESSIVE, given how hard I OTP Beatrice/Benedick

Evelyn wants to make sure her adventuring, treasure-hunting fiancé is on board with the quieter, less exciting aspects of a librarian's life. But life, as usual, doesn't exactly go according to plan.
Deeply cute post-first-movie fic. I am in LOVE with Evy. As ever.

"I've always been an appreciate-the-sunrise kind of guy, but there's something a little bit special about what might be the last one I see from where I sit. This is 'Chris in the Morning' on KBHR, and I wish you a happy apocalypse."
Cicely does the apocalyse, as only it can. Wonderful, reads EXACTLY like an episode of the show. I'd say which character was my favorite, but they all are.
Princess Princess
The Monsters Under the Bed, and Other Friends Sadie Made
Sadie's world is full of monsters, but monsters don't seem quite so monstrous once they become your friends.
REALLY SWEET, just as charming as the original. Sadie growing up and generally being the best princess to ever princess.
The Queen's Thief
on hairpins
When the citizens of Attolia complain that the Thief of Eddis is a terrible influence on their queen, they have no way of knowing the truth of their own words.
I DIDN'T KNOW I WANTED THIS UNTIL I HAD IT. Absolutely gorgeous, with that same wry humor as the books and none of the sadness! (Though I admit I feel a little sorry for some of the characters lol)
SCP Foundation
Experiment Log 261-Cf-Pr-a
"The apparently nonrandom nature of prior items dispensed by SCP-261 has long been cited as evidence of some form of deliberate volition, though it is difficult to assess whether and to what degree it may be sentient..."
A favorite SCP, with a Yuletide twist! Very fun and very true to the tone/feel actual article. Warning - has TVtrope-like effect and may cause incessant re-reading of the archive.
The Secret History - Donna Tartt

When Henry comes back from Italy early and saves Richard's life, he sets things in motion that neither of them would've predicted.
JUST AWESOME. Another candidate for my favorite of this Yuletide. Really great slight-change-of-events!AU. Gorgeously written and eerily plausible. Richard/Henry, which is not a pairing I'd ever contemplated but I love it.
Sirens
And You Know our Hearts Beat Time
There are things that they have never felt the need to talk about before. Ashley sort of liked it when they didn't talk.
A couple typos, but really in-character and hot and angstily delicious. Captures the feeling of the show extremely well. Stuart/Ashley porn FTW! \o/

Ino and Kiyo's relationship continues to develop with the same quiet slowness that it began with.
THE AWKWARDEST DARLINGS. Reading this fic is like drinking a hot cup of your favorite tea and snuggling down in a quilt with a cat on your lap. Just as endearing and lovely as the original manga.
Just Add Water
Ino decides to surprise Kiyo with a homemade meal on the anniversary of their confession. Things don't exactly go according to plan.
A little slice of awkward&adorable life. THESE BOYS. I CANNOT GET ENOUGH.

An Instance of the Fingerpost
"Everyone in Riverside knew what shackle-marks looked like, yes, but once upon a time, Alec himself had not been everyone in Riverside." Alec sleeps, and Richard reflects.
REALLY feels like a missing scene, and a gorgeous one, at that. Short, but bittersweet and moving. Will definitely come back to re-read this when I next re-read the book.

An absolutely fantastic blank!Andy POV. Very thought-provoking and intriguing, and it makes the unsatisfying ending of that movie work for me. Oddly sweet. TW for alcoholism, though.
