Still Hibernating....Adult ADD Not Just For Kids

Hello all! First, apologies for the hibernation, it seems spring has not yet sprung for me and so I'm still firmly hiding in my hole. We're almost through March now, though, so that's a good thing. January through March are the worst months of the year (for me) and so I'm keeping my head down and plowing on through. It's a strange deal, because I'm ( Read more... )

Wow...you sound a lot like me *meep*. I've had someone tell me that I 'scream' Adult ADD to them and it really doesn't surpise me. Alas, like autism ADD and ADHD for kids AND adults is used more as a convieninet label - but my niece has an extreme case of ADHD and I think I have a tocuh of ADD myself. Think I'll check out this quiz though...(Pssst - my OCD seems to override my ADD a LOT *sigh*)

*hugs you*

Yes, people do over-use it...I've seen kids who use it as an excuse for bad behavior or laziness...but I do believe it exists and makes some people miserable. Sometimes I feel miserable. I hate that I can't even make my mind focus on stuff I enjoy. It makes me feel frustrated to feel out of control at times....especially since I like to have a LOT of control over myself.

Well, I don't know if I'm OCD...but I can be compulsive sometimes, lol!

You know you always post more than I do, right? Have any of the coping strategies proven useful? I'm not trying to poo-poo the results, the quiz, or adhd, but I think some of the symptoms are easily attributed to a mind that isn't being challenged - or is bored... something creative minds are particularly prone to...
The main thing is, though, whether this is helpful on a day to day basis for you....

Are the strategies useful? I don't know. I've never been able to force myself to go to bed on time, eat healthy and exercise. Well, okay, yeah, some of the strategies help--like breaking tasks down into more smaller goals and making lists of priorities...that kind of thing helps ( ... )
