Supernatural Episode 6.05 Brings Shocking New Developments!

Oct 22, 2010 23:43

Okay, um, WOW. Shock and awe! Tonight's epi definitely curled my toes and set my hair on fire!

First of all, let me say I was one of those geeks that read all the Twilight books and loved them despite the redundancy and what have you. I watched the first movie and liked it, but didn't think it was worthy of the hype it got...then I watched the second movie and decided that I'd watch the third movie only after it came to Red Box and I could get it cheap. So, even though I liked the books, I did find the Twi humor in tonight's episode hitting all the right keys in making fun of the movies.

Anyway, let me backtrack to say that I LOVED the phone call with Lisa. It's so sweet that she's on Dean's mind so much and that she can put that little smile on Dean's face. I love her for that. And you could see how much she missed him, too! I really hope they work things out so that Lisa is always a home for Dean...even if it comes much later in the series.

Okay, back to where we where. I don't even hardly have time to stop snorting (Bieber and Effron, indeed) when we get the shock of our lives! Poor Dean gets bounced off a dumpster like a bouncy ball and then forced to ingest the vampire blood....AND THERE STANDS SAM WATCHING THE WHOLE THING WITH AN EVIL GRIN! WTH! I couldn't believe it. Sam's done some really bad things before, but this was shockingly bad! My blood pressure immediately shot through the roof, complete anger was my first reaction after the shock ebbed. How could Sam let that happen! Why would Sam let that happen? That can't possibly be Sam...could it?

Of course, having read the spoilers, I knew there was a cure, so I wasn't worried about Dean getting changed back (wouldn't have been anyway because we know they can't just get rid of Dean). So I wasn't worried about that, but I was worried about Lisa and Dean's relationship. I was so worried Dean and Lisa would break up right there. And, I'm still concerned. I won't be surprised if Lisa breaks up with Dean next week after the scare he gave her tonight--especially shoving Ben like that. Now that she's had a brush of what being with Dean might be like, she may decide to protect Ben from that. Whatever happens, I hope they work it out by series end and that we do see her from time to time. I love her and I love how she is with Dean. I love who Dean is with her.

Anyhoo. Maybe it's just my overactive imagination, but when Dean got back to Sam and Samuel, I got the distinct impression that Sam could have chopped Dean's head off without a thought if Dean had threatened them in anyway. Something about the eager way he palmed his machete and looked like he almost welcomed it...I don't know, maybe I imagined it. So, for the first time this year, I wanted to hug Grandpa Samuel. I really want him to turn out to be on the right side. I really, really want him to be good. And it was obvious that Samuel was not "in" on this with Sam. When he looked surprised and called Sam out on knowing about the cure and insinuating that Sam had purposely let Dean get turned so he could infiltrate the vamps' nest, my blood began to boil again! Just GRRRR!

How could Sam be so calculatingly cold? He used Dean as a means to an end. I can totally see the noir, as it has been explained to me, coming into play. Sam is doing some heinous things as a means to an end. But I have to wonder what his real end game is. He's lying his butt off and faking so much, that it's hard to tell. At this point, I'm really hoping Sam is not really Sam. That he's being controlled or is possessed or something. Otherwise, how do we redeem Sam? That was pretty low and heartless. For now, I've decided to look at it like this: I'm really, really angry with the "shell" that appears to be Sam.

Grandpa Samuel earned some major brownie points for the compassion he showed to Dean. I genuinely felt myself like him. I can't tell if the "not all is as it seems" is Samuel being good or being bad, lol! In one episode, it seems like they are purposely making him seem shady...then, we get this ep where he seems sincerely a good guy. *mind boggles*

Then, holy heck, we get a$$ whooping Dean! OH MY GOSH, he rocked! Swingin' his machete and letting the vamp heads fly! And he killed the whole nest all by himself--woo-hoo! You're darn tootin' he's got some Campbell blood, some Winchester blood and a whole lotta big damn hero in him! That's our fella. So proud of him tonight. Despite it all, he was able to control his urges and overcome the power of the hunger flowing through his veins. That's the strength our boy is so famous for! Jensen was just awesome and hot and sexy and creepy. I had flashbacks to Tom Hannigar in "My Bloody Valentine" a few times. The way they lighted his face in certain scenes and he kinda looked up from his head tilt...I didn't know if I should shiver or jump him, lol. And, I gotta say, Jared is good at making me mad at Sam with his arrogant smirks and that devious glint in his eyes. Just give the guy a handle bar mustache to twirl!

Oh, and then comes the heart clenches! After ingesting the "cure," Dean pukes his gut up and falls to the floor, all the episodes events running backwards through his mind's eye. Which, I'm not really sure what that was about, but... And we get the second huge shock of the evening. HE SAW. Dean saw Sam watching him get turned and doing nothing about it but standing by with a smirk. Poor Dean! I mean, how that must hurt him on such a deep level. I can't decide if he'd be more hurt or worried...maybe he is thinking that this can't be Sam at all? At this point, I'm wondering if he also figured out Sam knew there was a cure the whole time or if he thinks Sam let him get turned without a cure? Either way, we now know why Dean says that last line in the episode that we first saw in the SOON.

I don't blame Dean. I wouldn't turn my back on Sam for two seconds. Dean had better sleep with one eye open because it's obvious Sam does not have Dean's best interests at heart...if he has a heart right now. *shrugs* Also, is it me, or does it seem like Sam WANTS Lisa to dump Dean? That's the feeling I got after Dean tries to call her. And God love Dean, I felt so bad for him. You knew how upset this encounter with Lisa left  him, he's gotta know this can't be a good thing. :(   *pets Dean*

I can't wait for "You Can't Handle the Truth," episode 6.06. Now those pictures and previews with Dean holding Sam at bonesaw point make a little more sense, lol. And, according to the promo, it would appear that Sam thinks that whatever has happened to him is for the best because it makes him a better hunter. Think again, Sam. Think. Again. Sounds a lot like Sam drinking demon blood because it makes him more powerful. *sigh*. Not sure if that's something or nothing. Anyway, I give this ep two thumbs up! My favorite this season so far, no contest.
