Since it came out in conversation last week that milk comes from cows (you should have seen the look of absolute certainty that Mummy and Daddy were on the wind up, followed by total shock and incredulity), Izzy has taken to asking where things come from. We can't get away with "from the shop" - she wants details about the growth of raw materials, manufacturing processes and transportation of the items in question.
Some items are easier than others. Fish, for example, is a nice easy one. As is chicken. Fuzzy felts and window frames, however, were a little more taxing.
What is felt made from, anyway? We told her it was mashed up plants dyed a funny colour (well, that was the summary - the full explanation was much longer) but weren't sure whether the plant in question was cotton or something else.
Help! General knowledge needed! What if she asks me where the sofa comes from???
