John's Mum bought us a blender for Christmas. I used it or the first time today and found myself uncommonly excited by it. I now want to blend everything in sight, which is quite useful given that I need to make purees for Izzy. Oh blending is indeed fun. Just don't get carried away and try to make a cake with it - this does not play to the strengths of the gadget or ingredients.

I would suggest using it to make batter in the times when you're stuck for something to do and are keen to blend, but that would be a bad thing.

Endless pancakes and yorkshire puddings?

Maybe buy tons of different fruits and experiment with smoothies?

Yes that's the consistency of cake you get from a hand blended cake. It does the opposite of beating air into the mix, I found this out the hard way. Or should that be the chewy way. Cake should never be chewy.
