They're even smarter than you realise...

Megan is constantly amazing me and yesterday was nothing short of that. About three months ago she started "singing" along with music all the time. Then she started singing to herself while she was playing. Very cute. Anyhow, it has become progressively more intelligible. At first she was just kind of babbling (with long drawn out ei's, oohs, ahhs, etc.) to a few different notes, then I began to recognize very slight signs of her trying to sing something specific like "the itsy bitsy spider" because she would sing a word from the song and do the hand motions along with it. At this point she often makes it very obvious what she is singing, and has a good grasp on que and timing when she is listening to music. But anyway, one thing she started singing very often when she first started fiddling around with notes a few months ago was "iiiiiiiiiii waaaaaaaay". I always figured it was just cute little gibberish. But anyway, yesterday we were listening to Kamelot - Karma and the song "Don't You Cry" came on. This is one of my favorite songs and Megan has heard it many times. I play it a lot and I sing it a lot. Anyway, the chorus came on, and the lyrics begin, "Don't you cry or suffer over me, I will be waiting for you." And when the line "I will be waiting for you," comes on, Megan pipes up with "iiiiiiiiii waaaaaaaaaaay" right along with the song! I couldn't believe it... this is what she's been singing the whole time!!!!!

She also said "Hi Dad" to Eric the moment he walked in the door yesterday, without any coaxing at all. We were both very impressed.

Anyhow, I'm finally on the way to get this apartment adequately baby proofed. With Megan getting around so well now, there is no more time to spare. I've been planning on how to go about it for months now but it is going to be a huge job since we have so little storage space. If only we had an extra bedroom. heh. At least they sell sturdy enough book shelves at Big Lots for quite inexpensive. That has already made my life so much easier :) Funny thing is I'm finally getting things all set up and now it probably won't be very long before we move again. But I'm doing my damndest to keep everything as portible as possible. Keeping things organized now should actually make the move much easier. It will be nice some day when we have our own house though and can actually settle in and buy nice funiture that we won't have to worry about lugging all over the place.
