How old is your baby this week? 14 weeks (at some point I'm going to forget exactly how many weeks)

What's up with you emotionally & mentally this week? I had a pretty great week until I had a huge fight with my mom and aunt on Saturday. That seriously sucked. Without going into the long boring details, there was drama that escalated into screaming on both sides, and my mom and aunt stormed out of my house not only saying that they never want to see me again, but that they wouldn't see Elanor either.

We've had that particular fight before but it never involved Elanor, and I had just made a point of saying that if they didn't want me in their life we'd still find a way of letting them be in Elanor's. So they said it to hurt me, and I know from experience that it's just a low blow, but that's one that struck it's mark.

I've already gritted my teeth and sent my mom a letter (she doesn't do email and I just don't have the energy to call her at this point). I apologized for the stuff that was on me and basically reiterated that I do want her in Elanor's life. BUT I made a point of saying that it's just not okay to fight in front of her or involve her. And that if my mom can't agree to not fight in front of her, not badmouth me to her and not involve her, then I can't let her have a relationship with Elanor.

I fucking HATE family drama.

And what sucks the most is that I'd been having an awesome week before that.

What has been your biggest challenge this week? See above, obviously, but other than that, I think finding time for tummy time. Elanor wakes up hungry, and if I put her on tummy time after eating, she'll spit up, so we need to wait. And when I usually remember, it's time for her nap or she's just fallen asleep. Frustrating.

Has your baby accomplished a new milestone this week? If so, what? Not really. I think in general we've figured out that her bedtime is 10pm, so we're working on figuring out a routine beyond bottle, diaper, swaddle, swing or crib. I've also started bringing up two bottles to bed...one for her 1am feed and one for the 5am feed. That way I don't have to come downstairs until morning. It's made a huge difference in *my* happiness because that way I roll over, feed her, drag my ass out of bed and take her to the nursery to change her (I forgot to one night and now she has the worst diaper rash...I feel terrible), and then go back to sleep.

Has your baby had any appointments or play dates? How did they go?

I did a post earlier this week talking about Elanor's kidney doctor appointment, and how her left kidney has stopped functioning.

She has an appointment with the gastroenterologist on Thursday of this week. And blood work. I hate it when they do blood work on her. I have to help hold her down and she screams, even with the sugar water on her pacifier. I never leave blood work not in tears.

Last week we had a couple of play dates. On Tuesday we hung out with the rest of the moms and babies from my mom group after group, which was nice. On Thursday we went over to A's house, since she was hosting a playgroup for a mom group she belongs to. E and CJ were the youngest babies there, but it was cool to see what they'll be doing in 8-9 months (the age of the other babies). Actually, it was funny, because E was the only girl, so we made some jokes about her "harem"...wish I'd thought to take pics.

Random things of note?

E has cradle cap. It's all I can do to keep myself from picking at it. I'm grateful that she has hair that covers it because otherwise I'd have to put myself in a straight jacket to keep my hands away from it.
