Ilán - 12 Week Monday UpdatejustreadmyspineFebruary 9 2009, 10:24:44 UTC
How old is your baby this week? 12 weeks yesterday
What's up with you emotionally & mentally this week? Oh man. It was NOT a good week. On Wednesday night, Tony, Ilán and I were at the mall because Tony and I needed Ilán to nap and he usually only does that if we drive somewhere and then go to a public place with lots of noise. We were so tired that we could barely even walk one lap around the mall, and I almost broke down right then and there. Since that Sunday, Ilán had become extremely fussy (we're assuming because his acid reflux is getting worse) and was only happy being help upright under the arms and bounced, or being held upright while we stood up. We were completely exhausted, mentally and physically. Tony suggested we call his mom to see if we could go to her house and stay the night so she could help out during the day (we wouldn't ask her to help during the night or anything, plus it's the day time that's the hardest anyway). Of course she said yes, so we went home and packed everything up and drove 45 minutes to
( ... )
I'm sorry things have been so difficult for you. It's just not fair when you wait what seems like FOREVER to finally hold your little one and then they are just in pain and miserable all the time. It's like you can't even enjoy them, and I think that makes it so much harder to bond, too.
My DS had/has silent reflux and luckily we figured it out quickly (about a month and a half) and once we got him on some antacids he's doing much better, but I can't imagine going for 12+ weeks dealing with it. I hope you are able to get some answers/help soon so that you can get some sleep and begin to enjoy your beautiful little man!!
Yeah, I had a really good pregnancy, until the end when I developed pre-eclampsia. The last few weeks of my pregnancy were spent pretty much completely in tears, because I was miserable and just wanted my baby boy to be here, in my arms.
Now I feel completely stupid for complaining about anything during my pregnancy, even the pre-eclampsia, because these first three months with Ilán have been way more difficult than any of that.
I mentioned it here before, but Ilán was on two medications (Zantac and Prilosec) at the same time and they didn't help his reflux at all. I called Children's Hospital today to make an appointment with a GI specialist. The next available appointment is more than a month from now! I told them that was stupid and that we can't wait that long, and they said the only way to get an appointment sooner is to have Ilán's doctor call them, saying it's urgent. So I called and left a message for him to see if there's anything he can do.
