How old is your baby this week? exactly a week old today!
What's up with you emotionally & mentally this week? i am exhausted. completely. i am tired of people parading in and out of my house and my MIL is driving me nuts. she is sweet but i have to repeat everything to her over and over and then she asks my man the same damned questions and she didnt understand at first why i couldnt let jack sleep through the night. uhm hello he was really sick and almost died.. he is on a very very strict feeding schedule!
What has been your biggest challenge this week? it was tonite! jack is so gassy and he is so hard to burp sometimes! i feel horrible especially when my patience wears so thin that i can't concentrate or stay awake enough to breast feed.
Random things of note? i truly as i said in my earlier post thank god for vibrating bassinets
thank god for joel and i having our own house! it's when she visits! she is super nice and super sweet but she doesnt listen and right now i dont have patience for her. she asks me a question five times then asks joel then asks me all over again and i felt like i had to fight with her to get her to let my son sleep. he is on a demanding sleep/eating schedule due to his jaundice and she was all "my pediatrician said they can sleep as long as they want"
... yea her pediatrician 26 years ago with her two healthy full term babies
oh geeze, It's hard because they think they know everything since they've 'been there and done that' but its so different from back then & plus like you said, you have strict feeding/sleeping schedules!
I don't know if it's a good thing, or a bad thing, but my nearest family is 6 hours away, so we'll be by ourselves with the baby when he arrives mostly ( my parents & brother are coming out for 4 days at Thanksgiving).
my mom has been coming over everyday (except yesterday) and helping out. its been a huuuuuge help because she knows when to cut the shit with me and she can read me well enough to know when i'm getting pissed/cranky/tired/fed up
joel's mom is closer than mine but i just honest to god cant really keep it together around her. i feel so horrible about it because shes so nice! but right now with getting adjusted to baby and lack of sleep my patience levels are at an all time low
Plus , I mean it's always different with your own mom because generally we don't have a problem telling them to back off !!! I think if my MIL were here she would be the exact same way & I would be feeling just the same as you. But with my mom I could just tell her , listen man!!!!! BACK OFF!!
Ive only met my mother in law twice in the almost 3 years we have been married... but I can tell twice is enough. I'd rather deal with her long distance. :)
I hear you on the how it's different with your own mom.
I've asked my mom to come by for a few hours every weekend to give us a little relief (you know we can rest/take a shower/sleep without being on high alert because my mom's there) but as much as my mom and I have a strained (at times) relationship, I at least know I can yell at her or snap at her if I needed to. With my MIL I have to at least TRY to stay diplomatic.
My mom also knows how to handle me better. MY MIL is a hoverer and a motherer, and I prefer to have my space when I'm stressed.

yes. my mother in law gets offended very easily and feels like if you arent taking her advice that the world has just ended. It's entirely too annoying for me to deal with, which is why i'm so glad she doesnt live close! (I sound awful for saying this, but oh well)
