Posting Rules and a Few Notes

Oct 19, 2010 15:05

Okay, as the posting dates are coming hurtling towards us, I feel it necessary to make some posting rules and a few notes.

Firstly, I'm going to change the journal layout - finally - since it's recently been brought to my attention that it's difficult to see dates or tags.  The tags I have a good reason for: we don't have any, but I'm going to change that - probably today (which I'll get to in a second) - and for that reason we'll need access to the tags.  Originally, the journal layout was just something pretty I decided to use because it was easier than fighting LJ over finding yet another layout, now I realise it's less than perfect.

I'm also considering disabling custom comment pages - even if the white does rather hurt my eyes - anyone have an opinion on that?

Secondly, the tags.  I'm going to change the tags to have a rules, a modpost and a tag for posted bigbangs, plus the 2010 we already have.  Don't tag your post when you post; I'll come tag it later and give you an author tag. I have no plans to make any specific story-related tags (eg. rating, genre) but if anyone has any opinion on this, let me know and I'll consider it.

Now, finally, the posting rules:

I have no problem if someone wants to post their big bang on Google Sites.  I, too, will be doing that because I can't make LJ work enough to post twenty-one separate chapters and 40,000 words. By the end of that, I would be a gibbering, gibbering wreck assuming it would even let me do it.  It let me do it and I'm a gibbering wreck. Brb, dying.

However, if you want to post to google sites, please turn off commenting on the site pages.  Keep the comments on LJ because it's easier for most people.  Post a master post to your journal (like you would normally), link to the pages within that, and link to a comment post (like you would on any other big bang) from both the master post and the fic itself on google sites.  Also, do the normal master post on this community.

Whether you're posting just on LJ or using Google Sites or something else, please don't post it before your posting date.  When your posting date does come around, post it in full and make a master post on your journal. Then, make a master post on this community with this basic template (REMOVE THE TEXT IN SQUARE BRACKETS):

[YOUR STORY TITLE]

Author: [this will also be your author tag]
Artists: [Their username followed by a link to their art post.]
Word count:
Rating: [G/PG/PG-13/R/NC-17] for [violence/graphic violence/graphic death/torture/sex/swearing etc.]
Warnings: [Slash/het/femslash is not a warning. This is for things like triggary material.  You also don't need to warn for character death.]
Beta:
Summary:
Copyright Notice:
Notes: [Anything that needs to be said. Otherwise, remove.]

Feel free to post art in with your story if appropriate (covers before the work, dividers between chapters etc), but remember to link to your artist as well.  Also, feel free to put a cover on the master post on the community, but please keep it below 350x500px.

So; breakdown: Follow the template, don't freak out if the journal layout changes, look forward to tags in future.

(:

Thank you all for participating and I can't wait to see what you've written!
