gardening disaster

My tomato plant tipped over.

Two branches came off, as well as twenty unripened fruit & seven semi- to fully ripened ones. That's almost half of all of what had developed on the plant.

:)

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the flavor but I know a couple of people who do. There are enough of them that they should make a solid skillet-full.

The trick to fried green tomatoes is to cook them on low for a very long time, maybe 2 hours? They turn into candy.
They do still have a fried green tomato favor, so if you've already tried the slow cook, pass then along. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. It works best when you have friends over who know it will take forever and it's just an excuse to hang out and chat. Having lots of pans going at once (enough to cook them all? Since 2 batches =4 hours) is also a very good idea.

I don't really like the flavor or the texture of friend green tomatoes. (They kind of remind me of okra in terms of texture.) But they've been passed on to someone appreciative, so everything's resolved. :)

Candied tomatoes do sound intriguing, though . . . .
