The Academy was unafraid to award the best picture Oscar to the widely recognized most deserving film. That's refreshing.
[Ellen] DeGeneres joked about the weighty decision ahead in one of her more daring lines.
"Anything can happen, so many different possibilities," she said. "Possibility No. 1, '12 Years a Slave' wins best picture. Possibility No. 2, you're all racists."
