My daughter has variously told me that she "hates the ocean" and "hates sunshine".
I interpret these to mean "she views herself as an individual without plebian tastes". Or something. It's hard to be charitable when someone says "fun is for the little people". Um, sure. Suit yourself. Alone.
That's remarkable. I could understand the sunshine thing if she were so photosensitive that she were classed as being allergic to sunshine. The ocean? I haven't even seen the ocean (also, I cannot swim), yet I believe that I would fall in love with the ocean were I ever to encounter it.
Games are so universal. People learn by utilizing them. I don't know how to relate to someone who says they don't like them. Do they not like competition? Because neither do I; still, I like games themselves. *shakes head* I just cannot comprehend.
I'd have to ask for clarification about what type of games or say you find the concept intriguing and after some thought you wonder what type of entertainment they enjoy. I imagine it is possible to live a life filled with books, television, and movies. I'd still have to slip a game of Freecell or Solitare in there somewhere.
Surely somehow this person enjoys pitting their mind or skills against someone or something else.
I've thought of you recently, too, particularly when this acquaintance of mine remarked that a game of my fancy (Dominion) didn't seem as money-hungry as M:tG, then went on to say that he didn't play & played nothing.
Anyway, I hope that the Boggle game was worthwhile. I don't play online as much as I once did (@ Wordsplay), since sinking some cash into the online version of Dominion (@ Goko). In-person Boggle would be more than worthwhile, in my estimation.

Still, no games? I mean, not even that he doesn't like certain games. He doesn't like watching or playing any.
I don't know what it is about that statement, but it kind of puts up some sort of warning. Not a red flag, for certain, but perhaps a yellow one.
