Back to the Acorn

Since I've officially decided on doing this, I'll go ahead and let you all know. Tonight I figured things out with the help of Austin and Kats...

I'm moving back to Raleigh for at least a few months.

This Saturday.

With that said, let me go into some details. I haven't been doing much schoolwork at all while living in Atlanta, which hasn't really been a major problem. Although I knew that I wanted to get my schoolwork done in time so that I could graduate this May. I've also been worried about whether or not I'll get a higher education, and what that would be.
Well, tonight I got an email telling me that the final date for finishing coursework so that one may graduate in May is next Thursday, the 16th.
My Uncle offered a little while ago to move me back to Raleigh so I could look into further schooling (it's no secret that I probably couldn't afford it living away from my family). He offered it for this Saturday. I've spent the past two weeks trying to decide whether or not I should go through with the move. It's a big change of plans, you know.
To keep things short, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that there really isn't another option. I *need* to get my high school diploma, and I *need* to be in NC so I can get my car problems worked out (my mom's using my car and doesn't yet own a replacement). Also, Raleigh really has a great number of fashion schools that I should look into. If I can find a straight enough approach to it, I'd love to get a degree in Fashion Merchandising.
Knowing myself, and with other's knowing me, it's utterly apparent that if I don't figure out what my next step is now, I'll keep putting it off. I do not want to stagnate and get stuck in some long lasting rut. I want to do something with my life. Work with a brand, help them maintain, polish and present their special image while they grow. That's what I want to do, along with numerous little jobs that go with such a position, like helping manage fashion shows, keeping up with who the buyers are and finding new ways for brands to express who they are.
That doesn't specifically mean that I need a piece of paper to attain this goal of mine, although I've been told all my life that it will open many, many doors. Whether or not those doors will only open with a piece of paper, well, it's become apparent that I need to decide upon the truth for myself. And decide upon it this year.

So, I'm moving back to Raleigh, more than likely will be sugar-shacking in my older sister's apartment (downtown off of Hillsborough St.), will finish high school, get my car and decide how I will make those doors open.
After talking with Austin and Kats tonight, we decided that Dragoncon is my goal for the "door decision". It gives me ample time to check out schools, and more importantly to see if I can find one for me that doesn't smother it's students in the school "game" (I'm sure you know the one). If I can't, I'm just going to work my way up the ladder on my own by taking the initiative to get a career that I'm happy with. Kats suggested working with boutiques, volunteering for fashion shows and networking. They're all wonderful ideas, and I'm sure I'll do all of them- regardless as to whether or not I continue my education.

For smaller news, I'll be completely busy for the next week or so. I've got to get this last course of mine done (which will take every single day), have to pack, and after that I'm still looking forward to swimming westward so I can go to Purgatory.

I'm sad for the people I'll be leaving, happy for those I'll be seeing and hoping for the best.
