Weird Celebrity Crushes

After watching the movie Tropic Thunder recently, I realized I've always had a thing for Robert Downey Jr. I'm not talking about his current hotness, I mean I started liking him back when he was a messed up brat packer playing one of the bullies in Weird Science and the troublemaking-geeky roomate of Rodney Dangerfield's son in Back to School. At that time, I also thought James Spader was way hotter than Andrew McCarthy and couldn't see why these two bad boys were playing second-fiddle to McCarthy's cry-baby, whiney heartthrob. Seriously, his eyes were always red and watery and his lip was always wobbling. Did girls actually like that?

What really did it for me is, though, when Downey portrayed Charlie Chaplin. Strange thing is, I've always had a crush on Charlie Chaplin, who was sort of like 1920's version of Robert Downey Jr.--good looking, brilliant and full of legal woes.

My second celebrity crush is Family Guy/American Dad creator Seth MacFarlane. He is actually pretty good looking, however, unless you've caught him in a rare television appearance, you wouldn't know it. I do make it a point to listen when he guests on the Loveline radio show, because he's very entertaining when he's just riffing with the hosts.

Thinking about it though, I'm actually crushing on his voice more than his looks. And where it really gets weird is that his voice is usually embodied by a cartoon dog, a baby, and two loudmouthed dads.  I do love his "serious" singing voice, though, like when Brian sang "Never Gonna Give You Up", Stewie did "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" and Peter did "The Rose". Gorgeous...and a bit weird.
